It's Macca for me. He could sound like an angel or a lunatic, at his best he could cover all vocal bases. I find John's voice too nasal and grating for the sweeter tunes but he could handle the shouters more than ably. George's voice was serviceable and Ringo's was Ringo's. Paul was extremely versatile and had great control over his pipes so my money's on Macca.

Well Paul may be winning the popular vote right now but John will win the electoral college.

Paul is technically/versatility the better singer.
    John for emotion.

That's my exact take as well. As someone who really gravitates to melody, I always found John's voice to be too un-melodic, for lack of a better explanation. Even though he was transparent as a singer, and distinctive.

It's hard to describe in words but, like anything, I guess the ears just gravitate to what they deem more alluring. There are no right or wrongs of course.

Well, he did say that he wishes he would have been the one to sing it. It does sound more like a John style song, but I also think Paul did a great job.

Voted Paul, but all four are at least quite capable in their own way.

I can’t quite wrap my head around George getting the least votes, though. I might even put him over Lennon, to be honest.

They're both great, but Paul's voice was more consistently enjoyable to me than John's. I find John's vocals in 1966 irritating. Paul's can actually be quite moving too in songs like For No One and Mother Nature's Son.

I get the appeal of the soul and character in John's voice, but George's vocals honestly have a bigger effect on me on that front. John definitely had the best rock vocals though.

Here we go... John vs. Paul again. God, does it ever end? Can we just say they were BOTH great for once?

'Best voice'? Paul, by a wide margin. Jeez. Guy was blessed with one of the all-time great sets of pipes. Like Steve Winwood or Bonnie Raitt or Lowell George or Steve Miller - you opens yer gob, and a radiant sound comes out. Best singer would be a whole 'nother matter, and a toss-up - or maybe favoring John. But he just didn't have comparable equipment.

I think John had the best voice, Paul was the most musical, George had the most soul and Ringo had the most personally so they had the right combination

Technically it would possibly be Paul.

    But for me, it’s John.

I love John’s voice. He was insecure about his voice, but I love it.

Well, I don't much like the Beatles and the harmonies are a part of the reason why.

I do like George's voice though and lots of other music, funnily enough. :)

fmfxray373 Capitol LPs in the 70s were pretty good.

I love John but I don’t think he could have pulled off anything close to a Wings Over America live album or tour in 1976. However we never will know what John would have done in succeeding decades if we hadn’t lost him. Just live performance wise to me McCartney is the better singer.

John. Paul did a lot more with his, but John’s lavender voice is just more pleasing to my ears.
