George also helped Ringo write "Octopus's Garden" without songwriting credit, and Starr has acknowledged that Harrison co-wrote "Back Off Boogaloo" as well. So pretty much every song that is a contender for the best song that Ringo wrote was co-written with George.

    All of them had songs of Beatles quality. But maybe only a complete album or two that hit Beatles level... these FULL albums are the Beatles level ones IMO;

    • Plastic Ono Band - John
    • Double Fantasy - John/Yoko
    • All Things Must Pass - George
    • George Harrison (1979) - George
    • Cloud 9 - George
    • Band On the Run - Macca/Wings
    • RAM - Macca/Linda
    • Chaos And Creation In the Backyard - Macca
all the other albums have a couple of great songs like "Photograph", "Steel and Glass" etc.

Early 1970 is nice though, and it certainly warmed the hearts of Beatle fans at the time.

I don't know about "better" but I could keep All Things Must Pass and jettison the rest.

I don’t think George ever bettered While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Something or Here Comes the Sun, and With A Little a Help from My Friends is far superior to anything from Ringo’s solo career.

I do love It Don’t Come Easy, though. It might be my favorite solo single by a Beatle. One of them anyway.

i never saw this before... I'd have felt the same sympathy... look at poor Ringo ...surely he's not happy he's no longer on the ball! now I'm thinking... if he'd just bought a bunch of Berkshire Hathaway and Apple stock he'd have had no money troubles...but he was on the right track on the attitude! maybe if he'd had Leo Sayer locked up in a tower to write some MUSIC...

or Van Dyke Park came over to write a song and they could buy another swimming pool....

It's okay Ringo, the CD market and Anthology would bring in a Brinks Truck every day to your home

one thing I love to do is read the liner notes on Ringo's late 70s albums! producers, musicians... it's almost impossible to imagine that level of talent and not be able to come up with anything!!!

Ringo, because his songs were the weakest of the four therefore he had the easiest job with matching or beating his Beatles songs when it came to quality.

Without a doubt George helped on it, but Ringo still contributed a fair bit. Same with Octopus's Garden and Back Off Boogaloo.

    I voted the “none” option.

John, Paul, and George all released good stuff in their solo careers, but I think their best work was with the Beatles. George is the one I am closest to going along with for this, but his contributions to The Beatles and Abbey Road are good enough I don’t believe he fully topped them later on.

I have never particularly enjoyed any of Ringo’s solo output.

Which makes me wonder...what was the best song that Ringo truly wrote all by himself?
