My favourite early Dylan comp too - I wish they’d included Crawl Out Your Window just for completionists sake, though at least the mono is very common.

I totally agree. I can't listen to the stereo mixes, they lose all the power and impact of the mono. Homeward Bound and I Am A Rock especially benefit from the mono mix, the vocal is mixed dry and way up front.

Are You Experienced? by The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Prof Stoned needledrop.

I re-housed my non-RE-1 Reprise CD of AYE in a modern hinged-tray 2CD case, and put a burn of the Prof Stoned in there too. I barely listen to the stereo CD now.

I actually think the AYE stereo is a fine mix, regardless of whether Hendrix had any direct involvement, but the UK tracklisting knocks the socks off the US, and the mono is the only proper way to hear it. The original mono take of Red House in particular, with Chandler audibly stunned in the post-track chat, is perfect.

I have no clue who Alex or Fr. McCullagh are, but it adds a certain authenticity to the record.

    Boy, this fella can play!

I love Wensleydale cheese. I don't like curd tarts or rhubarb. I don't like Pontefract cakes either.

I hope you enjoyed yourself. That's a good album.

Yes. It is. I'm very sorry for derailing the thread. I did start on topic though. :0) I guess another way to get it on topic would have been to mention songs about food as food was mentioned a lot.

CC: “Yeah… let’s keep that one, you should put that one on.”
    JH: “Yeah, okay”

Always felt that little bit of chatter was important to document that the track was recorded live straight onto tape.

I bought this first then got the Mono Box. I never understood why the Beatles or Stones didn't do a mono companion disc like this.

Agreed. Even with the mono box I still regularly crack this one out. I can understand the Beatles, but why ABKCO didn’t seems unlike them - anything to make £££ usually!

To my knowledge the Beatles didn't even make an mono promo sampler like they did for the stereo.

I found the Jimmie Rodgers album at local used record store a year or two back. Looked like it had never been played or handled. $0.75. A real good intro though the track selection jumps around chronologically. Your other 2 look great, too, esp. Loretta.

So cool! I have one of these too, looks pretty beat-up and probably the smelliest record in my collection  Plays well though, and in Mono the song Crying really makes the hair on my arm stand up, pure shivers!

I picked up a bunch of good thrift vinyl last week that was a bit musty smelling but yesterday's group smelled really good like they were stored near fabric softener sheets or something flowery. I wish these two would have been mono but they're not... but, great titles that I was thrilled to find. I'm on a completist mission with the Louvin Brothers...mono & stereo.
