Springsteen - The Wild, the Innocent and the E-Street Shuffle to Tunnel of Love. 7 albums. (Born to Run, Darkness on the Edge of Town, The River, Nebraska, Born in the USA)
Sonny Rollins did about 15 albums as a leader in 1956-58 and 10 or 12 more as a sideman. The're not all consistently great, but some of them are stone cold classics IMHO and the overall level of playing and invention is extraordinary.
Bit of an obvious choice (for me anyway) but I go with Bob, Neil, Kinks, Stones and Bowie. Someone above has gone for Van run which is a good shout as well.
My other is The Who from: The Who Sell Out, Tommy, Live at Leeds, Who’s Next, Quadrophenia. And Rush: 2112, Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Signals.
None from the list but here are some of my "others" (I've stuck strictly to five albums per performer): Dan Fogelberg - Nether Lands - High Country Snows Toto - Debut - Isolation Lindisfarne - Nicely Out Of Tune - Happy Daze Al Stewart - Famous Last Words - Sparks Of Ancient Light 38 Special - Rockin' Into The Night - Strength In Numbers Fairport Convention - The Five Seasons - The Wood & The Wire
I voted other. My favourite 5 album run (i supose no one will be on my team): Pink Floyd A Saucerful of Secrets (1968) More (1969) Ummagumma (1969) Atom Heart Mother (1970) Meddle (1971)
Other: Man: Do You Like It Here Now? > Slow Motion Caravan: S/T > For Girls Who Grow Plump In The Night
A compelling argument can be made for pretty much every option on this list. My five picks were Neil, Stones, Radiohead, Sabbath and Springsteen. Apologies if these two omissions from the list have already been mentioned but, in addition to the poll options and some excellent suggestions contained in this thread, I'd add: Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers You're Gonna Get It Damn the Torpedoes Hard Promises Long After Dark John Mellencamp Uh-Huh Scarecrow The Lonesome Jubilee Big Daddy Whenever We Wanted
Given there are two opportunities to vote "other", I'm going to play again! Poco - Seven - Indian Summer Crosby, Stills & Nash - Couch - After The Storm Gordon Lightfoot - Cold On The Shoulder - Shadows Nanci Griffith - Once In A Very Blue Moon - Storms KISS - Dynasty - Lick It Up Tanglefoot 0 Saturday Night In Hardwood Lake - Dance Like Flames The Dillards - Pickin' & Fiddlin' - Tribute To The American Duck
Here's my favorite solid run of albums, ever: If all I had to listen to were the first 7 Simple Minds album, I'd be very happy. But Kraftwerk were amazing for this run: Rpxy Music were groundbreaking for the first 4 albums: Too bad about "Siren." Elvis Costello + The Attractions also had 4 stone classics in a row: Too bad about "Almost Blue," because "Imperial Bedroom" was amazing.
(Other) Pink Floyd/ Ummagumma-Dark Side Steely Dan/ Can't Buy...- The Royal Scam Jethro Tull/ This Was-Thick As A Brick Zappa/Mothers/ Uncle Meat-Chunga's Revenge John Prine/ S-T-Bruised Orange
Some of my favorites from the list I would shorten (e.g. Beatles - Abbey Road, Neil Young - Harvest, etc.)
Some worthy others: Alice Cooper - Love it to Death to Welcome to my Nightmare (6 albums) Blue Oyster Cult - S/T to Fire of Unknown Origin (10 albums including 2 live) The Pretty Things - SF Sorrow to Silk Torpedo (5 albums including Phillippe DeBarge, discluding Electric Banana) Sloan - Twice Removed to Between the Bridges (5 including Live album) CCR - Bayou Country to Pendulum Jason Falkner - Bellybutton, Ro Sham Bo, Presents Author Unknown, Can You Still Feel?, Bedtime with the Beatles
your neil young time line includes 7 albums everybody goldrush harvest time fades away on the beach tonight's the night zuma and every single one of them is sublime.
For me, it's defenitely Led Zeppelin's run of albums. Only Kiss' run of albums from 1974-1985 would be higher on the "return visits list".
Kiss - S/T to Rock & Roll Over Prince - Dirty Mind to Around The World In a Day Manic Street Preachers - Generation Terrorists to This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours
