a 1968 live show in my car. I hate the fact that the vocals are buried, but I'm always up for the Orange County Lumber Truck live.

this person said it nicely..."the shots he takes on modern society, and his funny/silly arbitrary edits.... guitar playing and jams are secondary."
a lot of his albums fall into that category. albums like hot rats do not.

and you don't like his instrumentals?

besides, that quote does not sound accurate. Zappa had a lot of both on most albums and the last albums with the classic mothers on them and a lot of early 70's work are a lot like Hot Rats (take Waka/Jawaka or The Grand Wazoo or Burnt Weeny Sandwich).

And with Zappa you never know what to expect and that quote is inaccurate as hell in what it says because Zappa didn't have a specific category.

Zappa is not in very heavy rotation for me these days. Sort of lost some interest in him I guess.

I'm not in a Zappa phase right now but I did randomly listen to Philly '76 the other day. I love Bianca's singing!

On the weekend, sometimes I'll dig deeper into my collection and play albums I haven't heard in a while.
Listening to the recent remaster of "Joe's Garage" right now.
Not one of my favorites though. Heck, I think this is the first time I've managed to listen to the whole thing in one setting.

I've got a copy of it and yes, the vocals are out of sync. I was disappointed.

right now listening to Uncle Meat, 1995 disc. Except for Mr.Green Genes and some of the live tracks it doesn't sound that bad actually. Quite good actually, the vinyl is probably better tho.

It's one of their best albums and i should listen to it more often.

Funny, I was just about to put that one on. Got the 2012 (which I guess sounds the same) & will give it the first spin. Happy Mothers Day everyone :)
