Whilst we're on the subject Teddy Bears Picnic is also quoted at the end of Planet of the Baritone Women - but you knew that! Indeed they did - here's a great website (if you've not seen it already) that contains tons of info on such matters IINK
Frank Zappa concert tape: Nov 3, 1975 - Philadelphia. If I read the notes right, this one has circulated in crappy condition for a long time, but a nice one has turned up. It sounds great to me. Joe's Menage is a 45 min official release of Nov 1, 1985. But this Nov 3 show has almost two hours.
Joe's Menage was only the middle third of a typical show from that tour. A strange choice to release, I think, but I have read from Joe that they don't have many tapes of that band in the vault.
On my birthday wish list I gave to the Missus. How does it sound? I have an original, but it's pretty torn up.
The record is flat, silent and sounds very good indeed. Well, it was mastered by Bernie Grundman using the 1993 digital master. I hope your missus gives you a happy birthday.
I am into the new concert releases. Zappa Wazoo is outstanding. Just picked up FZOZ. It is an Austrailian show from 1978. These have great SQ and great performances.
I almost pulled the trigger on a CD set of Hammersmith today. Can anyone offer opinions on this one...thanks.
I've owned this for about a month now in CD format. Currently on disc one(Original '69 Vinyl Mix) and "Uncle Meat Variations" is cued up. LOVE IT!!
