FRANK ZAPPA Frank Vincent Zappa Conducts The Abnuceals Emuukha Electric Symphony Orchestra – Lumpy Gravy Primordial [Mono, Limited Edition, Numbered, Colored Vinyl] LP (12" album, 33 rpm) Spun this last night.
This thread should be longer. I don't know what prompted this, but my last FZ binge was quite a few years ago, when I ended up picking up most of his catalog, and gaining a new appreciation for the breadth of music that he put out. Anyway, I had a hankerin' for Uncle Meat and 200 Motels (which I'm listening to now), which I kind of always lump together for some reason. I now have Meat Light and 200 Motels: the Suites on the way (along with all the other project/objects I am behind on). And I have been perusing this website a lot (again!): Return of the Son of the Vinyl vs CDs FAQ One question I could ask though. I just came across the fact that JABFLA was supposed to be a 2lp set, and the extra material is out there, if you look around a little bit. JABFLA is the very 1st album I got by him (well, one of three, along with Zoot Allures and Bongo Fury), and I couldn't believe that I didn't know that, but now that I do, I'm a happy camper. Just curious, any other tidbits like that out there? (And (ahem) frankly, I guess I'm a little surprised the other half of JABFLA wasn't officially released considering everything else that's been released over the years ...)
"Sleep Dirt" needed one I do not pull out as much as others, but a personal favorite...dig the hell out of Filthy Habits and The Ocean Is The Ultimate Solution.
Yesterday I found a Have I Offended Someone? CD in a local Goodwill (US thrift store) in unplayed condition for $1.99.
I'm a Zappa newbe and just listened to these albums in a row: Burnt Weeny Sandwich Weasels Ripped My Flesh Chunga's Revenge Dear God, I'm amazed!
