EMI UK will release a 17 song compilation (remastered) end of March... mostly the early stuff:

    Fool For Your Loving
    Don't Break My Heart Again
    Love Ain't No Stranger
    Is This Love
    Now You're Gone
    Give Me All Your Love
    Ready An' Willing
    Guilty Of Love
    Would I Lie To You
    Long Way From Home
    The Deeper The Love
Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The City
    Too Many Tears
    Give Me More Time
    Standing In The Shadow
    Here I Go Again
    Still Of The Night

Propably hair-metal versions for "Fool For Your Loving" & "Here I Go Again". The track list is better than I expected, but still too much from the pop-metal albums. Where's "Walking In The Shadow Of The Blues"?

Didn't we just endure a 2CD set of Whitesnake's 3 albums on 2CDs? I think it was called "Here I Go Again". Takes care of Slide It In, Whitesnake, Slip Of The Tounge:

The 2CD set is actually well done, as far as material. Includes the remixes, etc. Ah, a slice of decedant high school! As far as the mastering, it's as fried as the Universal 1CD compilation. I doubt the EMI is going to be much different, but...At least it's not an import...

The 25th Anninversary Collection is a 2CD set handpicked by Coverdale with suggestions sent in from his boardmembers of whitesnake.com (including myself). It's a really great set list:
Fool for your loving (original version)
    Don't break my heart again
    Hit an run
The time is right for love
    Love ain't no stranger
    Too many tears (ITL version)
    Pride and joy
    Victim of love
    Judgement day
    Is this love
    Take a look at yourself
    Straight for the heart
    Now you're gone (US remix)
    Looking for love
    Sailing ships (Starkers version)
    Soldier of fortune (Starkers version)
Walking in the shadow of the blues (Live in the heart version)
Ready an willing (Live in the heart version)

    Disc 2
Into the light (presumably followed by the River Song)
    Slow an easy
    She give me
    Shake my tree
    Guilty of love
    The deeper the love
    Blindman
    Love to keep you warm
    Love is blind
    Ain't gonna cry no more
    Slave
    Lonely days lonely nights
    Give me all your love
    Till the day I die
Ain't no love in the heart of the city
Here I go again (87 version)
    Still of the night
    We wish you well

I'll pick this up instead of that singles collection. Remember that the Geffen Anthology wasn't released in the UK and this new Anthology isn't going to be released in the US. These 2 UK Greatest Hits collections are the first career spanning sets of Coverdale's solo and Whitesnake stuff.

That 17 song collection is at number 4(!) on the Finnish album chart. I'm surprised.

I prefer the Jon Lord -era Whitesnake, so I'll buy the 2CD version. After hearing your reviews on sound quality, of course.

How is the remastering on the single CD?

I received the 2 CD remaster today... compared the compilation with the original CD pressings... I'm really pleased with the sound. Very good job by ??? unfortunately no mastering credits in the booklet...

I was disappointed by the recent 2CD collection that combined all the Geffen Records releases. Totally fried, but there were a few rarities.

As far as old stuff, I am probably going to try and dig up some old vinyl and do needle drops. Some of the import CDs are rather expensive.

To anyone reading this, please avoid the Axe Killer collection that features 1987 and Slip Of The Tongue. The mastering on that is so loud, I think that is when I first realized how bad mastering can be. To think that I actually searched for that before the recent 2CD remaster.....

The EMI collection sounds better than the Geffen remaster (IMHO)
