Evolutions disc is fun. Played the album proper 3x ...the wagging disc once, on 2nd listen of Evolutions. Monitor cd next. Friday night set!
This box is killer. The other boxes have been in stock for a long time at Amazon. I’m sure there was just some process/supply screwup at release. Can’t believe they’re running out. Coverdale wants to sell a zillion copies. Hang in there bro. I know it pisses ya off when ya think it’s on its way. You WILL have it....& dig it!
Here is an unreleased track from the A Trip To Granny House Sessions Disk.. for those who are still waiting for the box set like myself. It looks like the Evolutions disk & A Trip Granny House Disk has many treats to offer. I have to say all these Snake SD box sets released have been best value for the money!
You are correct sir, I WILL have it! I stopped farting around with Amazon and ordered it from Bull Moose who has it in stock and will ship today.
Wagging Tongue seems to be the same, but different mastering (I edited out the songs and kept the interviews) Evolutions seems to be a mix of Vandenberg and Vai.
You’re right....the monitor mixes are insane awesome! “This” is the definitive edition for me. Muscular - incredible rockin’
The DVD...the interview with David and Vandenburg is almost worth the price of the box set alone. Also, I have a real respect for DC after watching the making of...the guy can sing, play guitar, keyboards and even from the few seconds seems like he has some basic drum skills.
Man has this ever been released commercially? Amazing version. I wonder why Adrian is no longer part of Whitesnake? They really make a great team.
Cost might be one reason. Flying Adrian in and putting him up for extended work is costlier than using a US-based guitarist. And for my money, while they seem to be a great team in terms of getting along and presenting a united front, I just don't think Adrian's songs are very good. Both as a riff writer and as a song arranger, he's the weakest of the guitarists David has worked with.
My understanding Starkers in Tokyo dvd was released in Japan but it is long OOP. I could be wrong. The entire performance and the warm-up/soundcheck(which includes deep cuts) is included in Unzipped SD box set. just got my box SOTT box set, i just need some time listen to the music.
My old record store I used to work at had it so I canceled my Amazon order and got it there. Great set and the multiple versions of the songs don't get fatiguing.
I just realized they dubbed the studio lead vocal on Is This Love for the Donnington show. They did this for the previous DVD/CD release too. The original live vocal (see below) is fine. Not sure why they changed it.
Watching the making of SOOT album segment featured on the dvd of the box. Vai is nowhere to be seen in the preproduction phase of the clips. DC confirms in this dvd that Vai joined the band later into the process to finish off the album.
i would say that was a safe assumption. throughout the video of recording sessions there was footage of only DC, Adrian, Rudy & Tommy (Steve was not present) jamming out to ideas for the album. Afterwards, there was a snippet of Steve in a another studio alone recording a guitar part.
