I wonder if after mine went through, someone realized the system had to be changed to ensure only UK orders go through.
this morning it was 3000 to Rod and not much more to Robbie. (Rod overtaking Robbie yesterday) if you discount pre-order sales those albums are out performing on a day to day sales basis. My feeling is that both will overtake Who by end of Thursday. However that is without me really looking deeply into what figures are in the midweek- often streaming is late.
to clarify.. Annoying that I’m unable to order the signed cd. Makes no sense at all. However, a signed vinyl would have been more annoying to miss out on. edit: I realise a sentence of my original post was incomplete
WOW, this was worth waiting for!! Sounds great, and the songs are really consistently strong for the most part. Well done boys!
OK. The word 'vinyl' was missing from your earlier post. After my order of the softpack CD went through, for Japan delivery, I tried my luck about 90 minutes later for a deluxe edition, but that wouldn't go through. So, I ordered the deluxe to be delivered at the address of a relative who lives in England.
Ok after several listens, I like this and rank it where it rightfully belongs which is above Endless Wire. Those that think its top echelon Who, need to listen to the classic era material again. I do enjoy this one though way better than EW.
Lyrically, Rockin’ In Rage reminds me of Guitar and Pen. All This Music Must Fade=New Song and of course Music Must Change Some of it also sounds like Pete solo stuff from around that time (i.e. 1978 orchestral sessions/Empty Glass/All the Best Cowboys). The lyrics on Beads On One String remind me of some solo Pete like People Stop Killing People and The Sea Refuses No River. I’m surprised people are surprised to hear such lyrics from Pete—he’s been writing them for decades. Not all his stuff is irreverent!
Yes! Thank you! Mystified at all the hatred of EW. Though surely marred by the mini opera (parts of it, anyway) and Roger being in poor voice, IMO, EW is way better than Face Dances and Its Hard.
There was actually an advert for the album on U.K. Television tonight. Played snippets of a couple of songs. Nice
Love the backing vocals on All This Music. . . . classic Pete vocals, and Roger sounds as good as he did in 1977. Love these guys!
I wondered if they'd do that. The various Who compilations are usually advertised on tv in the run up to Christmas, so I thought a new album might be. It's perfect "dad present" material. Yes, I know, but it's true.
Ok, Just the way I feel today: Who's Next Who Are You Tommy Who By Numbers Who Sell Out Quadrophenia My Generation WHO Face Dances A Quick One Endless Wire It's Hard
I bought the Deluxe Edition today and listened to it once. First songs are really great, rest is okay.
In the interests of historical accuracy, I will point out that Entwistle was only with one woman the night he died. And she was employed as a stripper, she was not a paid escort. These things tend to get embellished over time. As to your main point, I remain in the middle. I am puzzled how anyone who is a fan of the Who could not find a lot to like about this album. At the same time, it amazes me that anyone would find it to be superior to Who Are You, A Quick One, or whatever you consider the worst Moon-era record. But divergence of opinion is what makes life interesting.
That's a respectable opinion, I think. Both of those songs kill. I'd rate the opening trio of Who, plus "Street Song," as their equal or better, myself.
That is an objectively insane thing for them to have done, and were I a stockholder, I'd be showing up at a meeting calling for some execs to lose their jobs. Seems a guarantee for the label to lose money.
