Just learned yet another English colloquialism. In Street Song we hear We can sing out anything now/No supremo slows us down. Never heard the term "supremo" before. According to dictionary.com it is I think it's possible Pete got the idea of doing the song in the victim's voices after reading this
I usually could give a hell about box office, charts or awards, but having WHO go to number one would mean a few things to me as a fan. First, it would validate Pete and Roger that their new music is worthy enough to be played LIVE and Who fans might get a more varied setlist. Also, hope this leads to a "strike while the iron is hot" mindset and they cut more stuff during or after the tour. Apparently we are witnessing in real time an alternative to burning out or fading away.
Ive never really like The Who but someone played this for me and its actually good. The first song I really liked, the one where PT sings about his fans sucking for not going to like the album.
Does the sleeve art bear a strong resemblance to Paul Weller's Stanley Road album art..or am I imagining things..maybe someone already mentioned this?
Received the 45rpm triple vinyl today. Definitely the best sounding so far out of 33rpm, 44.1k on Tidal, and Hi Res on Tidal. Sweeter mid & top end, bigger/deeper soundstage, more insight. Great quality pressing too.
Whatever happens tomorrow, if you combine the USA and UK charts, The Who are a runaway #1. No one else comes close.
Physical LP sales...World LP sales.. It's the LP of the week. Billboard can say what they want but streams are ridiculous. Rolling Stone uses streams and that's a huge USA lead with a few hours to go. I do not see how it changes. Back in my day.. this LP is runaway #1
That’s good to know, Timbo. It would seem then that the triple vinyl is the best option for those interested in best possible sound quality. This album certainly seems worthy of listening at top sound quality.
I am an ex mastering engineer and it would have been nice if they had backed off the compression, but Bernie Grundman has definitely got the best out of it. He has used a sweet sounding DAC on the cut., and of course all his gear and lathes are ridiculously well modified to get the best possible sound
The loudness level on the CD is a travesty. On my Audio Research preamp at 9 o’clock it almost drives me from the room. Doesn’t Pete or Rog approve this before letting it out? I barely turn on the gain and it leaps out. What a joke.
Agreed 100%. I saw them twice on the 2019 US tour and wish that they would have released the album earlier in the year and had a chance to add more of the new material into the sets. Considering the response for WHO, it might have been a nice diversion from the old warhorses.
You guys have convinced me to order the triple vinyl and cassette bundle even though I have the CD and LP already! My dad and I listened to the album together last night. He said he can't believe Roger's voice and how he sounds like he's 40 and that this album "sounded" like The Who. As a longtime Who fan I'm proud of them for not whimpering out despite all the obstacles.
Let’s take this thread to Number 1! Hope we have good news tomorrow with The Who topping the charts. They deserve this with WHO
