Want somebody old school with a high voice? I'd go with

    [IMG] Neil Sedaka or
    [IMG] Barry Gibb.

Del Shannon would be the obvious choice . . . He had worked with Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne. And he'd be another pre-Beatle rocker that Harrison would know and respect.

Would certainly be able to take Roy’s place in the vocal mix. He was very use to checking his ego at the door. I don’t know of he was friends with the other members.

Brian would have been too high maintenance and his voice would not be suitable as a replacement for Roy.

Pretty sure Jeff would vote "No".

Smokey Robinson is the only right answer.

Springsteen could have fit in nicely just as he did on the Roy Orbison Black And White Night show

Waylon Jennings easily had the vocal range to sing Roy's parts but rock was not how he worked.

Doubt that, Jeff and Roy had long since patched up their friendship. Im sure they recorded some stuff together in the 80s

I would of liked Art Garfunkel in that spot.

Couldn’t imagine this at all (suggestions for Barry Gibb), but a Dylan/Garfunkel (or Dylan/Gibb) duet could’ve been one of the funniest things ever put to tape.

In terms of both vocal range and songwriting? Bob Mosley ex-Moby Grape. In some respects I think he's
an even more powerful singer in the mid range.

Vocally, Gary Puckett or Jay Black (who could still hit the falsetto notes in "Cara Mia" in his 70s).

I can't vouch for its accuracy, but rumor has it that they had considered Del. The rumor was circulating shortly before Del shot himself . The deaths of both Roy and Del may well have cast a pall over anyone else trying to step into that spot.

Has anyone mentioned Chris Isaak already? He was basically the Roy Orbison of the 1990s...

I couldn't imagine anyone replacing him because I think the only reason the George Harrison did the Wilburys was because of the fun spontenaity of it. If you had to think through replacing someone the magic and fun is gone and he is out.

It's nonsense im afraid. Have a look at the first couple of pages on this thread. There's a link to an interview with DS where he says it was never considered
