Aretha Franklin isn't rock so I'll have to think about this one!

I'll throw in Regina Spector, but they're all very good in their own way and one shouldn't play favourites.

It's a joke. I was just replying to that portion of his text.

    Acoustic/Electric

"But you should definitely buy an Accoustic before you graduate to an Electric."

And those are def. good artists to represent those terms.

Nat "King" Cole sometimes did both at the same time, as did Marvin Gaye.

Interesting that there are so few to choose from. Especially if we get picky about “rock”. That would exclude Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin. Especially if we only count the last 60 years. That would exclude Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard. Yes, I know they continued to record after 1960.

Al Stewart is an interesting one. I think of him as being a guitar player but fair play, he's credited with keyboards on quite a few of his records. Good spot. :righton:

It’s Ray Charles. If he’s not allowed in the Rock category, then Stevie Wonder. If Rock is code for white, then Steve Winwood.
