Surprised that no one had mentioned Steve Walsh from Kansas. There is nobody that could touch what he did in the mid 70’s. Yes, his voice failed him (or he failed his voice) but at one time it was almost like he was the rock equivalent of a Karen Carpenter with a wide vocal range and a pure tone.

Can't believe I didn't think of him. I've been playing his new album constantly in recent times.

An outlier but certainly a favourite of mine is Kevin Cronin. Love his singing, and whilst he is primarily a guitar player, he does play piano on a bunch of REO songs including Keep On Loving You and Roll With The Changes.

Great list. Except some of them aren't even full-time keyboardist. :D

Of course, someone had to mention a Beatle...

OK, my turn... Stevie Wonder, of course. Elton John... Billy Joel...
How about Randy Newman? I know it's not really rock but if Billy Joel is in, why not him?

George Duke is up there from his time with Zappa. Bobby Martin, too. Unfortunately neither sang lead with Zappa very often.

You may be right. IIRC, only I Never Loved A Man... was cut in Memphis. The recording resume in NYC a few days after this first session. And Duane had his first Aretha session only in 1969.

Edit : it's Jerry Jemmott, not Jermont.
