There's lots of bands that sold tons of albums in their heyday, but who are mostly forgotten now. And when I say forgotten, I don't mean by the people who bought the albums the first time around. I'm talking about by new generations that are not likely to go back and explore these forgotten artists.

Some that come to mind right away are Grand Funk, Loverboy, Air Supply, Huey Lewis, Styx, etc.

But who is the largest-selling forgotten artist?

    example piece of info:
"In 1971, Grand Funk equalled the Beatles' Shea Stadium attendance record, but sold out the venue in just 72 hours whereas the Beatles concert took a few weeks to sell out."

Let's imagine a 2019 tour gross by the Beatles vs Grand Funk.

Given their record sales and concert receipts, Grand Funk Railroad.

    Whoops, I see this is a common opinion . . .

I'm no Nostradamus but I can't see future generations buying up the catalogues of the Backstreet Boys, Bon Jovi, Mariah Carey or Celine Dion.

well, they grossed $360 million on their reunion tour of 2007-2008. I would guess they could do similarly well if they toured this year.

but Styx, Huey Lewis, Grand Funk, Duran Duran, etc??

  13. I think Huey Lewis is a good choice as he and The News (due to Huey's hearing loss) don't play live and that's the place to encourage sales, fans to remember them when you become an oldies act.

    Or her sister Merrilee? :D

Actually, I have no idea who Jennifer Rush is. I barely know who Merrilee Rush is. “Forgotten” indeed.
