    Hurry up Canada post...

Okay, guys. I'm already watching the mailbox.
Do you know how to positively identify this
CD? From the US version, that is. Is there
an artifact (or lack thereof) that will nail
    it? Maybe track length?

Arrgh...guess I'll go out today and buy a US
    copy for future comparison.

Is that a mail truck rounding the corner???

Well, keep in mind there were *several* US versions, only one of which being Steve's version. And they all used the same catalog number. As of yet nobody has been able to determine exactly what pressing Steve's was, so...

The simple way (for now) is just to pick up the Canadian disc.

    Lukpac,

I think that it may have already been established prior to your post as this is what I was refering to.;)

    Well Henry.

So how does the Mofi stack up against the Steves MCA?

The MoFi is a POS. They used an Astley-assembeled digital master for their CD. I'm not even sure if they did any mastering. If you want the MoFi CD, just go get the remix/remaster at Best Buy.

Is the question how to identify the US version that Steve did? As far as I know there's no simple way, other than doing an A/B comparison with the Canadian CD. The Canadian CD has a slight glitch in WGFA, but Steve said that shouldn't be there on the original US CD.

    BMG CD Club pressing.....

If you go through the used bins and find a BMG CD Club issue, pick it up. It uses the Steve version. It has 11/89 2DAE pressed in the CD's inner groove...

Dave, when MO-FI went out of business I decided to get Live At Leeds and Who's Next.Music Direct jacked them up to $40 & $50 each.I took a pass on that.I think it was the fifth Best Buy store that I found the last copy of each one for $25 each. I was pretty proud of myself. They sounded okay but not their best effort, great booklets though. I Got Who's Next (Canadian) for less than $10 and DCC McCartney and DCC Nat King Coles Greatest Hits from HMV Canada for a great price because by that time, you guessed it Music Direct raised it's prices on DCC material. Yes,I give the nod to Steve's version. It seems like a veil is lifted as the saying goes.It seems clearer, more natural.I think Keith Moons drumming benefits the most from this one. What an awesome musician.

Yeah, it's the cymbals!! Also the synth! The cymbals sound more real than I've heard in a long time! But the acoustic guitar also is sounding very clean. Love IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh , and the vocals........................

Steve's CD of the Steppenwolf debut album is the one that's in print. It only lists at $9.98
