    You spelled "music enthusiasts" incorrectly.

Also, "weirdos", but A+ for the assessment.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I saw new vinyl again in 2003, after not seeing it for a number of years.

That's expensive. I did once see a copy of Tim Buckley's Blue Afternoon or Starsailor with an HMV Import sticker and a £20+ price tag, but I think that was unusual. More recently, I've seen Neil Diamond's Hot August Night II originally sold by WHSmith for £12.99 (now reduced to a 5 for £1 deal).

For me, cds are still pricey. What I'm looking for cannot be found in the few remaining brick and mortar stores that remain in the Baltimore area.
If I want to but some Jimmy Buffett cds, yes they're cheap.

I see what people are buying for $! and it's pretty much commonplace junk.

There was lots of 50s-60s music that once went for big bucks online as many of those comps went out of print fairly quickly, as music from 1962 on back got reissued by European public domain labels, most started to buy the EU PD issues driving the value of many of the licensed collections on CD with lower resale values.

I had even scored the Raven Records Divinyls compilation at a local used bookstore for $1 and it goes for big bucks online.

I found that statement amusing. Anyone from Britain knows how much CDs used to cost in the mid 80s.

I remember paying £22 for the 2 cd Best Of The Doors in HMV in 1985!

  16. Interesting.

I don't see how a non chain record store could exist without selling used vinyl. There is no real profit margin on non indie new vinyl.

We're getting a lot less CDs donated to our charity shop lately, and at least 50% of them aren't in sellable condition.

I got that one about a year ago on a 5 CDs for £1 deal. It was an early Austrian DADC for Europe Alison Moyet Alf that I wanted. Not a bad comp. I kept it.

I came across the following today
Darren Hayes - Too Close For Comfort
I couldn't make up my mind to pick it up or not. It was a promo copy.

It had the obi as well. I may go back tomorrow.

Last week I took the bait on a 30 percent off online deal and got 16 discs for $42 bucks. That's including tax and shipping.
Could've used these prices when I was a broke twenty year old and wondering if I could make it to the next payday if I bought a new cd that week.

I rarely find a cheap used CD that I like. And when I do it's never under U$ 5. Then again , check my location.

You can make perfect copies of CDs, and you can't do that with tapes or vinyl. Right now if I wanted to, in almost no time, I could piratically download the complete CD catalog of MFSL and DCC in perfect FLAC, with nice scans of the artwork and discs themselves. It would be easy, and once burned to disc would be virtually indistinguishable from the original CD -- for which I might have to pay $20 or $50 or more each on discogs.

    Not so with cassettes.

  24. Definitely true, but the catalogs themselves are problematic.

'This' age of physical CD collecting has simply become a ' Cornucopia Bonanza ' for music lovers !!!!!!!

A totally outrageous time for CD music collectors. :agree:

I've personally picked up at least 500 each M- used CDs - outstanding titles. I've even bought 400 or so M- 'great titled' used LPs for 50 cents to $1 each. It's just Unreal. I even bought 100 South American M- 'traditional' music, by each country, LPs for $100 - just couldn't say no. But... 70s-80s rock LPs are getting harder and harder to find now - but certainly not impossible... yet.

What an outstandingly great time for music collectors to collect music!! It's just a 'Crazy Train' of music collecting.
