Why hasn't Jim Morrison's HWY ever been officially released?

The music industry would disagree with you. Fewer and fewer stores are carrying CDs, overall income for record labels is down, they're laying off people, and even the RIAA says that revenue is down. Streaming is not bringing in the money everybody hoped for. And I think the real obscurities will remain obscurities forever at this point, unless there are enterprising people willing to go out and invest money to convince the labels otherwise and release them independently. And that is not cheap or easy to do.

The solo Jim stuff will be rolled out next year. A lot too.

There might be an hour of never fully seen 1968 Doors FOF outtake live footage that could sync'd to decent quality audience tapes.

Surely that could be marketable and perfect to flesh out a Doors box set. It'd get more replays that WTTS raw mixes or IOW official.

The footage in the Depp documentary is amazing, but I can’t imagine it being released complete as anything but a bonus feature.

Some things are delayed in this business. I’m also telling u info which is in the planning stages and not release dates so sometimes in planning stages it changes. Sorry. A thank you would be nice once in a while. Or is that above you?

So, who controls the rights to the film? Genuinely curious.

I mean, sadly neither Jim nor Pam are around to give consent. Ray probably would have promoted the heck out of it (probably with some sort of Doors tie in somehow).

However not an official Doors product.

Will we ever see it released?

Morrison/Coursons estates 50/50 and managed by Jampol. The JM "Treasures" coffee table book is an example of non-Doors Jim product.

Ray already helped gut clips from HWY for some VHS things, Ghost Song music videos and WYS Blu-ray. I'm sure all the most interesting bits have already been seen officially.
