Fans of Paul McCartney’s Wings are finally going to have long overdue, long rumored, remastered and expanded editions of the band’s 1972 debut, Wild Life and the 1973 surprise smash, Red Rose Speedway.

Once these two are out, the last of the Wings’ canon, 1978’s London Town and 1979’s Back To The Egg are sure to follow – which would then close out the McCartney Archives for Wings’ career, which spanned (get it?) from 1972 to 1980, with several line-up changes; McCartney, Linda McCartney and Denny Laine being the mainstays from start to finish.

Is there something missing in the middle there?

    Also, no "Mama's Little Girl"?

EDIT: Ignore this, see updated listing

I just assumed that "7" meant 17 and 13 through 16 were the individual medley tracks

Wild Life! Yay! I just listened to this album yesterday. Some decent material here that never sounded quite polished but that may have been the intention.

It includes an extra CD of live 72 material and a 96-page book of Linda's prhotographs of that tour.

Amazing. I’m going to pass up all this year’s big deluxe editions (except for Bowie and Dylan) for this pair.

Holy chicken wings! This looks awesome! But, this might have a pretty fat price I think? I probably go for both sets but individually. Btw, however I really like the spine of the Red Rose Speedway set.^^

I'd rather just have a nice remastered vinyl version of both. I could see a 2 disk set for RRS but 1 disk for Wild Life would suffice.

Glad so many are thrilled, although I’m not sure I can handle a Wild Life box set.

A repost of something I just said in the the other thread:

In anticipation, I have been listening to a playlist of the double album version of 'Red Rose Speedway', and I must say that it just feels like a stronger album, with more substance to it, greater than the sum of it's parts. Had it been released as one I can imagine now there would be threads here suggesting that it be cut down to one album, but I do feel it would have been the stronger release. Songs like 'Tragedy', 'The Mess and 'Mama's Little Girl' deserved to be on a studio album.

    And another :

So going from the quality and success of 'Egypt Station' and the great promotional events for it, and the amazing quality of these reissues and the new live release, it looks like the infamous comprehensive plan really is living up to it's name; I love it when a plan comes together!
So far, it looks like a great decision of Paul to go back to Capitol. They have really impressed me so far, and these sets look truly fantastic. I am now really looking forward to both of these reissues, despite being concerned beforehand, and I now look forward to 'London Town' and 'Back To The Egg' both hopefully following the same pattern, with the 1979 UK tour recordings included in a similar way. It is also looking likely that we will get the 'Rupert' recordings with those releases, seeing as they have given us so much bonus content here.

As for the cost, go vegan like me and live off of lentils and chickpeas; it will be worth it !

Finally this one (allowing me to correct what I meant):

I am surprised that 'Wings Over Europe' wasn't released at the time; fans in Europe and the USA would have wanted to have a live album from McCartney, especially before being given the chance to see him live if you lived in America. It would surely have been a steady seller for quite some time, even if the songs on it are not as widely known.

One step closer to Back to the Egg. Hopefully next year for it's 40th anniversary.

  25. Ordered the deluxe (see main thread) . But it costs $451 out the door to Seattle. Surprised that there was sales tax to Washington state..
