Wow, I went to college in Shoreditch last year. Think I might take a trip back to catch up with my friends and take some pictures...
Talking about Henry McCullough, I'm always moved by this eulogy to Henry by B.P. Fallon and David Holmes R.I.P. Henry.
No idea. I'm not aware of what footage exists from this period. Perhaps the black and white is an artistic decision or perhaps this footage is the best quality available.
Every time i listen to it I'm nearly in tears.....beautiful heartfelt tribute by B.P. to a friend put down by him and David just after Henry's funeral.

Apologies if this has been addressed up-thread, but I just received my RRS Reconstructed double LP and I attempted to go to the download redemption page and the website says "oops...page not found". I assume everyone else is experiencing this?
Finally got a listen last night! Great fun! But... using all the material around you are still stretching it, & including lotsa sketchy material, to get a "Red Rose Speedway" double... but... If you're willing to savagely edit (losing lots of the actual album) you can come up with a nice length, truly great single album!!!
For anyone else who wants to listen here is the 2018 "reconstructed" Double Album Track list. Red Rose Speedway Double Album - Paul McCartney and Wings (2018), a playlist by Dr. Pepper on Spotify Vinyl Side A Night Out Get on the Right Thing Country Dreamer Big Barn Bed My Love Vinyl Side B Single Pigeon When the Night Seaside Woman I Lie Around The Mess (Live at The Hague) Vinyl Side C Best Friend (Live in Antwerp) Loup (1st Indian on the Moon) Medley - Hold Me Tight / Lazy Dynamite / Hands of Love / Power Cut Vinyl Side D Mama's Little Girl I Would Only Smile One More Kiss Tragedy Little Lamb Dragonfly
Was very impressed with RRS reconstructed double set, I really enjoyed the new songs. Today I listened to the Wild life double set. I never thought this album could sound any better but this new one sure does sound amazing The bonus material was not that great for me. Maybe I have to listen to this a little more but it was kind of a let down after hearing the Red Rose set.
The biggest factor in the album's success was the massive success of "My Love". Four weeks at #1 for the single was no small accomplishment.
My Truly Great single vs. Still Very Good double list You can have a great album of 9-13 tracks or go as far as adding all of Level III & you are double album length with 20 tracks (and one of them is the album closing medley)... to get a double you dilute things, but what a great single album, eh? Dipping into Level IV isn't advised unless you're a stickler for keeping to the intended songs for rhe album, as opposed to the more wide reaching net of- from that album's era/sessions from around the album's sessions... Level I (7): Big Barn Bed My Love Little Lamb Dragonfly Country Dreamer I Lie Around Live & Let Die Hi Hi Hi Level II (6): Little Woman Love The Mess Night Out Get On The Right Thing C Moon Mama's Little Girl Level III (7+) Mary Had A Little Lamb Night Out One More Kiss Single Pigeon When The Night Hold Me Tight/Lazy Dynamite/Hands Of Love Best Friend Level IV (7): Loup (1st Indian On The Moon) Tragedy I Would Only Smile 1882 Jazz Street Seaside Woman Thank You Darling
On the Super Deluxe edition of Red Rose Speedway, is the additional version of "The Mess" the same exact studio take that's been bootlegged for years? (If not, how does it compare? Better?)
You are the Frank of Wild Life. I face west and shake my fist in your direction, demanding you enjoy that which I enjoy or remain silent, sir!
Here is my take if the “extra-tracks” on the Doubke RRS Night Out-great opening number with pumping bass, nice drums Ana menacing guitars. A rocking and fun track Country Dreamer -another one of those lovely folkish melodic numbers Paul excelled in at this time. Always liked this one Seaside Woman-Hmm -a bit corny reggae-attempt but in it s own right a rather lovely pop -song reminding of early sixties girl-groups I Lie Around -Another pastoral tune about country living, Great tune with a multilayered arrangement The Mess (Live at The Hague) - One of Paul’s best rock-number-period. Some wondrous riffs here and Paul goes full throttle vocal -wise Best Friend (Live in Antwerp) -Another great bluesy, rocker with some rockabilly stuffed in for good measure. Insanely catchy chorus Mama's Little Girl- Such a lovely song. One of these great, simple acoustic numbers Paul seemed to pick out of thin air at the time I Would Only Smile- Argubke Denny’s finest song. A brilliant piece of power -pop Tragedy- What a cover. Great arrangement Orherwordly harmonies and very soul-ful lead vocals from Paul Put together these tracks really changed Red Rose Speedway
I agree. Sequencing a double album from levels 1 to 3 is far more attractive to me than including lesser material just for the sake of some concept of authenticity. The challenge of course is in the sequencing.
