Anybody else like the studio version of 1882 ? The slightly faster tempo on the studio version really helps imo.
Just realized 1882 and Best Friend on WOE are repeats from the RRS set. Have any of these others seen official release before (like on the Ram set)?
This is ridiculous. These boxes aren't even old, they have just been released! Some people who ordered on or before release day haven't even received them yet.
Imagine how that buyer might feel if they decide to make a second run of these. On the other hand, if they don't, down the line, $1750.00+ may turn out to be a bargain...
The live versions of "Eat At Home" and "Smile Away" from the Ram set are different venues/different performances. "1882" and "Best Friend" are the same performances on both WOE and RRS but different mixes with overdubs added for each song.
Let me be the first to yell "THE STORYBOOK!!!" at you. It's $1400 for a colorful box, live CD and storybook. People are out of their minds. Has any archive gone up in value like that?
So close, but yet so far - Box #1884! In case it hasn't been posted yet, the "Hidden Track" on Wild Life Disc Three, 'When The Saints Go Marching In', dates from the October 9th, 1971 overdub session in E.M.I. Studio Two. Good question. The alternate version was featured on the original German 45 and I'm not real surprised it got overlooked. Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to consult a few of the true fans first before assembling theses sets.
So just to clarify this Big Box release, the only differences between it and the two individual sets is (1) A bigger Box with different artwork encompassing the 2 sets and (2) a CD that is a unreleased variation of Wings Over America recordings. Everything else is the same - no extra book or anything else. And if this big box was still available, it would still cost £20 more than the two separate sets. At first looks, I thought the extra bonus CD was a freebie.
how quickly you forget: Wings Over Europe -Previously unreleased, newly mixed Wings Over Europe 20 track set recorded across 5 shows on 1CD -Introduction from Paul McCartney talking about his memories of the 1972 tour -96-page photobook including previously unreleased images by Linda McCartney -Replicated 1972 Wings Over Europe tour programme -Downloadable 24bit 96kHz unlimited high-resolution audio versions
I too have the "cheapskate" (havent heard that term in forever) version, and it really is a good value because of the 2nd disc, just a great listening experience.
Entirely agree. But then, I'm not now, never was and never will be a fan of Red Rose Speedway as it was released. The only song on it I really love is Single Pigeon. But I'm glad to finally own all the material on the bonus disk. If they'd have sold that separately for a few bucks less, I'd have bought it.
Thanks. I was assuming it was from that day since they were jamming a bunch of old songs in the studio. The only date I think we're missing from this year is "Bridge Over The River Suite". The V&M book was no help as it listed the Nashville date.
WOE has the Best Friend overdubs (basically the Cold Cuts version without the added delayed-reverb) but lacks the double tracked vocals for 1882. So they kinda swapped things around as you'd think the double tracked 1882 would be on WOE instead of RRS.
If you're talking about the stripped back version that's been "available" since the 90's, then it is on the Deluxe set with an even longer fade out than what was previously available.
