It was a nice selection for a b-side because of its quirkiness but on it's own, it's pretty much a throwaway. Paul sounds stoned out of his mind in the intro. It's a wonder he made it through the song.
the horns almost remind me of some Venus and Mars tracks.... The Cure (whom I like) were inspired/influenced by C Moon on this track...imo.
A little late to this party but here goes. Just watched some of the videos from the deluxe version. Bruce McMouse is a conundrum. I love the surround mixes on the Blu Ray. Very listenable and the performances are quite fun. But the animation piece, to me, is annoying. Happy that the James Paul McCartney special is now out in best possible quality. I only like about half of the material, but that is still 20 minutes of good stuff.
Clearly they edited different performances together. His outfits change, not just the hair. The music was better than I was expecting and that was the main thing for me.
C’mon. Don’t be an L7. The name "C Moon" was inspired by lyrics in the song "Wooly Bully" by Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs. McCartney said, "There's a line in [Wooly Bully] that says, 'Let's not be L7.' Well, L7, it was explained at the time, means a square—put L and 7 together and you get a square... So I thought of the idea of putting a C and a moon together (a half-moon) to get the opposite of a square. So 'C Moon' means cool, in other words."
C Moon is a very quirky recording for a superstar, but I suppose that's why it's a b-side. I think all the ex-Beatles liked messing around on b-sides, not having the pressure to make an exquisitely crafted record, but enjoying themselves immensely. Paul's claims his favorite track by the Beatles was You Know My Name (Look Up the Number) . Sounds to me like he was being a goofball on C Moon in the same kind of spirit, at least at the beginning of the record.
I went there again and it’s still there on display. I don’t think it’s quite at Ram levels but I suspect the lo-fi aspect of Wild Life has made it appealing in some indie communities.
Looking at this ad: Is it "C. Moon" (with a period after the letter "C") or "C Moon"? I don't recall any period.
I guess it's as you wish Also, it's either: Hi, Hi, Hi Hi Hi Hi Hi! Hi! Hi! High High High High, High, High High! High! High! I even remember reading somewhere Hi High Hi !
Yeah, well that doesn't mean both sides were good and equal. Consider Paul's recent so-called double A-side single from E-jipped Station ("I Don't Know" and "Come On To Me") although they were both equal, as in equally bad. ;-)
Yeah, supposedly the BBC banned it, but it was played in the U.S. C Moon did not make the charts here, but Hi Hi Hi got to #10.
Well guys, heading tomorrow out for my 2nd NY BeatleFest (going on 30 Chicago Fests this summer)... Denny L, Laurence J, and Steve H will all be guests and have a panel discussion together....I will ask about any Back to the Egg Box news that they might have................. Also curious if the Big Barn Box will have a panel discussion of its own?
True and interesting how on Wings Greatest it was "Hi Hi Hi", All the Best it was "C Moon" and shockingly Pure McCartney did not have "C Moon"-clearly a Macca personal fave!
I have sung "body gun" for 40+ years so it is body gun to me..................Wings with a little risqué humor, kind of like why I love "Girls School"............
