The big "Wings 1971-1973" box set I plan to go through again on this 3 day weekend which was supposed to be the NY/NJ Beatlefest!

I am still enjoying the expanded Red Rose Speedway it is superior to the original 1 album release imo.

The super deluxe box combining these 2 albums is still a highlight in the Archive series!

I have stated elsewhere that the original double album version of Red Rose Speedway has moved into my top 5 Macca post Beatles albums!

It took me a long time to realize that the double album version is superior, but it is. RRS is better than Wild Life Life and London Town.

Has anybody been able to work out all the lyrics to 'Outtake I' from the Wild Life set?
I think it's a very interesting snippet, since it's autobiographical.
'Born in Walton Hospital in 1942'. Then there's something like 'People change all the time'.
They both seem to know the song and lyrics, so it was a real song and not just a jam. Wonder if a proper demo was once done.

Dr. Pepper What, me worry?

The version that I have put together that is my main way of listening to the album now incorporates those three songs. I too think this version eclipses BOTR as a listening experience and becomes peradventure Paul's best album since leaving the Beatles.

I see the Big Barn Box is on eBay and someone bid $1750 for it. The auction expires in about 6 hours. Someone else is selling it for $2300. :faint:

I see the starting price is the overblown 1750 USD, and some straight away bid that, way before the listing ended. Not the wisest move, negotiating-wise. Even less since by the look of things copies this year sold for in between 725 and 950 USD, with one exception of 1300 USD.

So do I, but I can't see them doing it while the Archive Series is still an ongoing concern. MPL may worry it would send a message to people that you don't need to buy the super deluxe editions to get this material as it will have a stand alone release anyway at some point.

The box ended up selling for $1825 - 6 bids total. Other purchases earlier this year were around $1000.

I Finally got the Red Rose Speedway deluxe (yes late to the party). I wanted to download the hires files but the download doesn't work.
If I choose a version to download a new webpage a shows up saying:
• Temporarily Down for Maintenance.
Our maintenance that has been delayed. Please check back.
I know this had been an issue for a long time... but can someone point me to a solution?

Here's an odd thing: frustrated by the mastering of the new RRS, I bought a copy of the 1987 CD (having long since sold my own original!). Looking at the waveform for Big Barn Bed shocked me:[IMG]

[IMG][/IMG] Was this album treated to a silent remaster after the original came out or are all copies this compressed?

Same thing happened to me about two weeks ago when I tried to download the super duper box or whatever it’s called.

I will post a message about this on the forum of the official McCartney site but I doubt it will help. I can't find any contact-information where I can knock at the door.
It is incredible that you buy an expensive box and can't enjoy all of it.

23. It’s always sounded a bit flat and lacking in dynamic range, so I wouldn’t be surprised.

Still happy that I was able to get the RRS box set for under $40 when there was a slight blip on the Paul McCartney website that briefly made it available at that price.

I was a little worried that the order wouldn’t be honored, but fortunately it was.

It’s definitely a great set to have if you’re a McCartney/Wings fan.

Wow - that's a great deal!

Though I remain happy I got the BBB for $295 during that tiny window of availability on Amazon! :)
