I used to watch it all of the time on reruns when I was a kid. One of my favorite episodes is the one where they hold a contest, and they have a collage of music that's about 20 seconds long; it's made up of snippets of different songs, so it was like 10 songs within this 20 seconds. They didn't think anyone would win it, and (of course) somebody did. The only thing I can remember is that one of the songs in this collage was 'Tumblin' Dice' by the Stones.

No one was cooler to me than Johnny Fever back when I was in school. Looking forward to this.

Probably my all time favorite TV series.

I thought they re-released with the original music intact?

    Anybody watch last night's episode....S1EP1.

Lots of visual moments with Loni Anderson/Jennifer. She was a pretty big deal when this show originally aired.

^ I'm interested in hearing reports on the quality and if there were any cuts. Hopefully, very slim chance of course, they're using the original broadcast versions!

Some of my WKRP Souvenirs...The Actual Gold Record of Blondie "parallel lines" that hung on the wall Seasons 2 - End of show. Got it from Skip who's name you will see in the closing credits. It was a gift to him after the show ended. Also below are the Shirt that Loni Anderson wore during the WKRP vs WPIG Softball game and her Satin Jacket. She sold all her stuff a few years back and I was lucky enough to get a bunch of it. ENJOY!!

I wouldn't mind having one of those. Have the shout factory but having both would be cool!

I do have copies but they aren't the best quality. Basically VHS rips. Still watchable of course but having something similar to the Shout! sets would be much better.

Wonder if they will ever release "The NEW WKRP in Cincinnati" with Tawny Kitaen. Probably not enough interest. I have the entire series on Boot DVD-R.

Why were the call letters WKRP?
    The W is silent KPR=KRaP.
The creators did this on purpose because the station was crap in the ratings.
Just a little trivia for you.

I always thought it had something to do with carp. I guess the fishing references with Mr. Carlson put that in my mind as a kid.

I don't know if any scenes were trimmed but the tunes played by Fever and Flytrap were not the original broadcast ones. They did do a good job of keeping what I think was the original dialogue going over these new but weirdly generic tracks. A previous airing I had seen years back was a complete new track AND voice.

The carp was the station mascot. Didn't he get into a fight with the WPIG pig at one point? I can't remember who wore the carp costume though. Probably Les.

It was Herb. Episode 21 of season one. IIRC, one of the jokes was that Herb and Mr. Carlson thought it was obvious that "KRP" suggested "carp" when of course it also suggests "crap."

I just looked this up - it was Herb in the costume. Also Johnny & Venus did the drinking & response time test on air, which I remember thinking was hilarious (Johnny gets better the more he drinks).

I remember getting the old DVD set and being infuriated that the "contest" censored most of the contents. What happened to Fair Use, or is .05 of a second of Heart too much for The Corporation?
