If it is a cool lineup though regardless of the name it will be a cool festival. Daft Punk kicks ass

The events in Bethel will have to much smaller than 69, 94 or 99 because of the museum grounds. The Amphitheatre there is very nice and the sight lines are great but it is seated and only holds 15-20k or so..

They can do multiple stages in the grounds as well but they need to take care that it doesn’t get too over run

The USA could learn a helluva lot from Europe on how to do a music festival (i.e. Donington, Wacken, Download).

I've reached a point in life where I need high quality, low carb food and clean, convenient restroom facilities.

Yes! In fact there have been several festivals in Europe that carried the Woodstock banner and they were relatively incident free

There will supposedly be a Woodstock in Europe this Summer as well

    I didn't know about Woodstock 99 ...
I hope they have a cool festival at the 50 ....
I just dont really see the point of a fiftieth anniversary woodstock show with all new bands ... nothing wrong with the bands really, but woodstock was a cultural event as much as anything else, and now the culture is something completely different.
Why not just have a new festival without all the baggage?

I've read that they want to make it a yearly festival after the 50th. The bands they announced so far make it seem horrible.

Here in Ottawa some promoters are trying to do "Woodstock North" with so far all tribute bands of those who were there in 69. Would be better if they had some actual bands that were in the original.

  19. Barbaric, even. Perhaps totally rat-ass crazy.

That is, of course, assuming that one believes in praying hard enough to actually conjure up an intended result, whereupon I would claim that this bended-knee practice only leads to equal, or greater disaster than my original jest.

I wonder if they will let folks like me that were at the 69 concert in for free? I have to dig out my bell bottoms I wore to the original Woodstock.
Oh I forgot, my Mom burned them when we got home.

Yup. It's gonna be MUCH smaller and probably carry with it SUPER high ticket prices. They'll probably charge by the day with multi-day passes available. It will sell out fast though.

I'm pretty close by to the site, but being a bit older now, the thought of an all-day fest doesn't interest me as much any more. Plus, it takes days to get out of there even with a regular show. :(

I did enjoy Woodstock 94 even though it was a bit grueling (check out the photos - people without cell phones or tattoos).

Glad I passed on 99 as I looked at the site and figured hot tarmac in August was a bad idea - and it was. ;)

Daft Punk's lack of touring throughout their history automatically makes this one of my most anticipated potential shows of next year. We'll see!

It sounds like a good idea, but are there enough viable rock acts still in existence beyond the usual suspects . . cough, Foo Fighters, U2 and . . . . um....
