Woodstock '94 was fantastic. It was a great mixture of old meets new. A few dud performances, but hey, the original Woodstock had that too!

Woodstock '99 was a train wreck. It reeked of commercialism and profit. Some of the ARTISTS themselves were encouraging riots and bad behavior.
Just look at the marquee in this picture, the whole event looked like a bootleg! I don't see Woodstock 50 being much different.

AMEN! Waking up in a tent next to a girl that I had never seen before and never saw again to the sound of the Allman Brothers playing a set that even Dickie Betts stated “Out of all of the big festivals we ever played that was the one where we sounded the best”....

    Magical

AMEN! Thank GOD I went up to Allentown, PA to see that tour. Santana IV was incredible. HUGE loss that they only played a handful of shows

I have heard The Who, Graham Nash solo, Neil Young solo. Arlo, Santana and Joan would do it..
Yes! In 99 it was three days 90 + degree heat, little shade. after the vandals destroyed the water fountains and the stands charged $5 per small bottle of water, I literally thought many people would die of dehydration. It wasn’t until day 3 that I knew I would make it

What I hope is that Criterion makes a new 4k scan of original Woodstock film. Their 4k scanned blu-ray of Monterey Pop is a noticeable improvement over the old Criterion blu-ray.

Goes to show that even for a film that was shot in 16mm there is still an improvement when scanned in 4k instead of 2k.

Its possible, since there's lots of classic-rock loving people under thirty, plus you can never underestimate the power of hype. I'm sure there'll be a re-release of the movie on Blu-Ray, along with a 50th Anniversary CD Boxset of the 69 festival, as well as a 25th Anniversary CD Boxset of the 94 festival.

However, the name was definitely tainted by the events of WS 99 (it was the most unsurprising thing ever to me that after that disaster there was no followup in 2004, or 2009, or 2014). But I guess the "50th anniversary" is too much of a marketing/hype point to be ignored/$ opportunity to let pass.

But why do you want something to fail so badly that doesn’t affect you? Or you’re not interested in?

Nothing more than a cash grab using a name that means nothing to this era. It's over. You can't be the first man on the moon a second time.

I see an event tainted by violence, opioid overdoses, sexual assaults, Trump protests, and concession stand salmonella. I see "3 Days of Hate, Anger, and Outrage". Getting thousands of disgruntled, social-media-addicted Americans together in the year 2019 in a giant, ****-slicked field fueled by drugs, alcohol, and Black-eyed Peas music. What could possibly go wrong? It will make Woodstock 1999 look like Woodstock 1969.

But hey, I'm a glass half-empty sort of guy, so maybe I'm wrong.

    Actually, make that entirely empty.

Prove me wrong, people. Please prove me wrong. "Be Best".
