For me it's Fyne audio and Kinki studio. Fyne really deserves a better name when one takes in account people, expertise and products behind it. Kinki, on the other hand, is just a typical chinese WTF. Polk is not a name I like either.
I'm not offended. I'm all for juvenile humor and jokes, but when you lean into this hard (using it as the name of your company), the efficacy in its continued humor is reduced to zero.
Not to be confused with ‘Ion Systems’ amplifiers and tuners from the late 80s and early 90s, which morphed from Nytech!
I guess it sounds like 'fine'. The place Fyne is a sea Loch north west of Glasgow. There's Fyne Ales too, brewed at the head of the Loch.
Well, the fact I wasn't aware of - that there is a place called Fyne - makes it better. But the wordplay fyne/fine is still super cheesy and cheap and because of that I still find the name cheap.
My walkie talkie came with channel 14. I thought all the cheap single channel ones did, but I may be wrong.
Well, I'll just repeat what I said earlier: The preposterous name Schiit has been implemented effectively with negligible effect on the brand's marketplace viability. I'm sure they lose some customers who are offended or put off by the name and the never-ending stupid joke it represents. But not many. I'd add that the company doesn't get enough credit for the related but non-scatological silliness of the Norse mythology model names. And it reinforces the feeling that these guys are having a good time while remaining serious about performance and value, which I appreciate.
If you want to perpetuate and glorify an 11-year-old's sense of crude humor, you've found the perfect brand match to represent yourself. Enjoy! Don't forget to pick up an extra set of FartKnocker cables from your favorite online retailer.
If you're trying to Schiit-shame me, it ain't working! Like I snarked earlier, the brand name offends or irritates all the right people while mocking the po-faced pretentiousness of high-end audio grandiosity and faux grandeur.
Confusing? NAC Naim Audio Control (Pre) NAP Naim Audio Power Amp NAIT Naim Audio Integrated NAXO... Not really NAF!
The appliance brand makes very good budget appliances. Aimed at rental properties, and also a rent-to-own favorite. Not junk!
We have a new and rather late entry to the competition: the DENAFRIPS ARCE Streamer. New Blog Post (I am assuming that it has not been mentioned before but I really cannot be arced to wade through 12 pages to check.) Re the name, in this video I think they doth protest too much:
Damn, missed that - you beat me to the draw . The YouTube video is quite amusing though as the poor guy tries not to giggle as he suggests not using the English pronunciation and using the Spanish one instead
¡Exactamente! You would think that they would have hit reverse when they first noticed, much like Toyota didn't when they noticed how the name of their MR-2 model was pronounced in French!
Good luck with the Dena streaming platform. They were slow to fix the drop out issue …. Imagine what their streamer software will be like.
