Imagine for a moment Jesse Presley survived and went on to have even nearly as much talent as Elvis.

Would the older twin have dominated and bullied the younger, shyer Elvis, who would abandon any dream of a career in showbiz due to his inferiority complex caused by his superior twin brother?

Or could they have both succeeded and even been a duo? The two brothers, while enjoying the perks of success, would never allow one another to go overboard. This enabled them to sustain a long and prolific career as the greatest entertainers of all time.

Warhol's Double Elvis may have just been the two brothers side by side!

  11. Even if he lived, they still wouldn't have been as great as The Everly Brothers... ;) ...but I'm also serious...love Elvis, love The Everly Brothers that much more (even vs. double the Presleys)...

I think Marlon Jackson's twin brother would have been a phenomenal vocalist, he would have taken the lead in the Jackson 5, Michael would have been a warbling background singer, and would have never made "Thriller"....Marlon's twin would have essentially become Michael, and we wouldn't care about Jesse Presley

If anybody would have gotten Elvis off of the medication that he succumbed to, it would have been his brother.

Obviously Jesse would have been the successful singer. He probably would have had Elvis's good looks and voice and, like you say, be the dominant personality. Elvis would have remained a shy electrician, quietly wishing for a taste of fame his older twin brother had. No, I don't think the two of them would have performed as siblings (ala the Everly Brothers). But "J", as the Memphis Mafia would have called him, would undoubtedly have suffered the same fate as Elvis in the 1970s with drugs and an early death. The difference is that Elvis would have become part of the Jesse 'group' after his comeback in the late 1960s. It would be discovered that he could actually sing quite well and would sing backup and even some harmonies on Jesse's 1970s recordings. No, they would never become a duo because Jesse would be so well established already and didn't want to share the spotlight. But after Jesse's death the record company, along with the other band members, would persuade Elvis to step up to the microphone, at least in the studio, to discover that their voices were quite similar after all. Elvis's music career would actually start in 1977/1978 recording his first album. And although much of his music would pick up where Jesse left off, he would quickly change his style over the next several years to fit in perfectly with the 80's "new wave" sound.

By this time conspiracies would be running wild too. Everything from Elvis had his brother Jesse killed to really crazy things like Jesse didn't die, he had Elvis killed and then assumed his personality to evade taxes. Some fans would be true to Jesse, saying he was the true King, that Elvis was the little brother to the King. Others would embrace the Presly legacy and love both Jesse and Elvis - Jesse with his rags to riches story and Elvis with his shadows to wispy stardom story.

Elvis killed Jesse in the womb. He didn't want the competition. He was trying to forget with the drug use.

    Elvis's Twin Sister (A real poem I kid you not:D )

    In the convent, y'all,
    I tend the gardens,
    watch things grow,
    pray for the immortal soul
    of rock 'n' roll.

    They call me
    Sister Presley here,
    The Reverend Mother
digs the way I move my hips
    just like my brother.

    Gregorian chant
    drifts out across the herbs
    Pascha nostrum immolatus est...
    I wear a simple habit,
    darkish hues,

    a wimple with a novice-sewn
    lace band, a rosary,
    a chain of keys,
a pair of good and sturdy
    blue suede shoes.

    I think of it
    as Graceland here,
    a land of grace.
It puts my trademark slow lopsided smile
    back on my face.

    I'm alive and well.
    Long time since I walked
    down Lonely Street
    towards Heartbreak Hotel
