Would this move from a CD player to a CD transport with a DAC be an upgrade?

I have a Marantz CD6002 from around 2007 and am considering upgrading.

I recently bought an Audiolab M-DAC+ and have read excellent reviews of the Audiolab 6000CDT.

I wanted to ask if anyone more familiar with CD players knows if this would provide a noticeable difference or does the fact I have a separate DAC make it a bit redundant?

 

I'm not an expert in these matters but I'd bet the DAC upgrade is more substantial than a change in transport. Not that there wouldn't be a difference, just a lesser difference. And speaking of differences, can you hear a significant difference between the M-DAC and your Marantz?

 

Yes! It was one of those things when you make an upgrade and put on music you’re really familiar with and are struck by the improvement.
