Spend an evening at your house for money? Isn’t that illegal? Gene’s a hooker.

How come Elvis never offered something like this?! I would gladly have paid for that!

Why do I have the feeling that the vast majority of the $50K went to Gene Simmons, and far less to Ace Frehley.

    I wouldn’t pay $5.
I wouldn’t even want him in my house.

When they went on tour together last year, Ace mentioned that by using Gene's band, he was saving a lot of money.

With that in mind, I wouldn't be surprised if Gene payed him absolute zilch for this and the other Vault appearances.

I’ve known a lot of musicians in my life who’ve never released a single or album who play miles better than this - be it their own stuff or covers - in their own living rooms. Shocking! Still, something to show off about to your friends on social media I guess, if you’ve got the cash. If I had 50 grand to throw away like that, some new hifi kit would be a far better idea.

Does he have a copy of the full 'Kiss Saves Santa' movie in his vault?

Gene said that was his inspiration. "What if I could hang out with Elvis?"
If you have the money for something like this...go for it.

You missed my point. I would have paid to see Elvis, and probably paid not to see Gene.

No I got you...my point was people who want to do it, why not?
If I had a billion bucks what $50,000 to hang with your idols? People with money often spend millions for private gigs. What Gene is doing is supposed to be informal.

Ok then, I misunderstood you. Yeah, if you got the dime then you can do the time with your idols.

thats probably the biggest part of it.

it would be undeniably cool to have 12-15 beers with ace and hear some wild stories

Very sad video. A very low point in rock and roll.

I'm trying to figure out why Gene Simmons would do this. According to the internet (so it must be true) his net worth is $350m. It would be comparable for me to do the same thing for $7.15!

I think it would be awkward, so no. Honestly, I'd rather pay a couple hundred dollars and see the entire band perform a big show (assuming they still do that).

I am usually of the opinion that people pick on these things just to hate, and that they're not really that bad.

But, oh my, that was hideous.

You simply haven't lived until you've paid nearly the entire annual median U.S. household income, to hear two old rock stars fumble their way through an off tempo rendition of "Funk #49" in your living room.

It's a good thing they didn't give Ace a chaise lounge to recline in, he'd probably have stayed a week.

I do love the idea of someone showing up expecting an acoustic house concert and suddenly being blasted by the sound of a distorted bass and a guy simply shouting over it.

No, even if I had the money to be able to easily afford this I don't think I would do it. Just doesn't really appeal to me.

And if I had shelled out 50 thousand dollars and they showed up and did that I would be seriously pissed.

Well, I'm thinking that he's not pocketing anywhere near $50k. Besides the income tax, he's paying the airfare, hotel, limo, food, others traveling with him, etc.

It makes it sound like a huge tour for Nirvana, but Calton Studios was tiny and Nirvana hadn't yet made it huge.
