Hello guys, I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy this.

The "Deadpool" movies, "Logan" (movie), "Legion" (series) and "The Gifted" (series) are four parallel universes; each one featuring an alternate version of the X-Men.

The main X-Men universe (X-Men + Wolverine) has been altered via time travel twice, not just one ("Days of Future Past").

This means that the timeline depicted in "First Class" (1962), "The Wolverine" (2008) and the post-apocalyptic future of "Days of Future Past" (2023) was already a massive divergence from the original, untampered version of history (the X-Men trilogy).

    X-CONTINUITY
    http://x-continuity.blogspot.com

There are extensive sections explaining more about incongruences and contradictions in the saga.

    According to my scenario:

Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) was a time traveler. He was born several years after the events of "The Last Stand", in the original timeline (X-Men Origins: Wolverine; X-Men; X2; The Last Stand).

At a certain point, when he was 50 or so, he traveled back to 1912 A.C. and impacted the timeline over the years in various ways... until creating the Hellfire Club.
He also changed Magneto's life in 1944.

The events of "First Class" were deeply caused by him, as well as having many birthdays shifting in time and characters being born later or before (Angel, Jean Grey).
I guess he influenced many powerful people over the decades, impacting their lives - Warren Worthington II (Angel's father) was among them.

FC Moira was the grandmother of LS Moira, as simple as that.

Emma Frost was already existing. Maybe, in the original timeline, Emma Silverfox was a clone of her who was adopted by Kayla's family (that's it).

So in the end, we got the second timeline:

    1962- First Class
    1963- Magneto is arrested
    1973- Mystique kills Bolivar Trask
1983- Alternate version of "X-Men Origins"
    2000- Alternate version of "X-Men" and "X2"
2001- Alternate version of "The Last Stand"
    2008- The Wolverine
2023- Post-apocalyptic future of "Days of Future Past"

    ENJOY! Thanks.

If explanations of these diverging continuities try to straighten them out in fictional terms, they will fail.

It's all about who owns what, whose research indicated which fans would respond to seeing what on the screen, and which actors, directors and studios wanted to do what.

The world of Marvel storytelling has twisted itself into pretzels and paralysis for years, lying to fans and themselves, pretending all these dichotomies exist because "that's the way the story goes". That's where the real fiction happens.

When it comes to different humans being placed in charge of corporate-owned characters for the purpose of making money for media conglomerates who never had a stake in telling actual stories, don't even try and offer-up explanations. :D

Well, it's not the case of the X-Men movie franchise for a simple reason: when "X-Men" (2000) debuted, it was still a pioneering era for superhero movies. There weren't cinematic universes like the MCU dictating the parameters.

They just attempted to create a cohesive continuity after "First Class" in 2011, which was way too late.

Plus, in the very first place, "First Class" was supposed to be a soft reboot not related to the original trilogy (2000-2006).

First class is my favourite X/Men film. Matthew Vaughn’s best film along with KickAss.

They did a fantastic job with it. Actually, "First Class" was groundbreaking and brilliant for being a more "grounded" superhero movie, without denaturalizing the comic book themes too much --- even more than "X-Men" and "X2".

Yet still, all the Marvel movies were hamstrung continuity-wise, because each character not only had a long history of things that made each one of them who they were...but none of the studios has total access to all of the characters responsible for that. None of the writers were given permission to write for both a Gwen Stacy and a Mary Jane. Wolverine couldn't come to the door of Xavier's School, and be invited in where he could interact with his old classmates who were licensed to different studios. And, hundreds of years of continuity whiplashes and left-turns in the actual comic books that spawned the interest in the properties in the first place, meant nobody could plot a movie to condense a character's origin to the point where you could get in on the ground floor if you came into the theater off the street.

And it's not any easier in the DC universe where, depending on which show or movie you're watching nobody could possibly cross over into another's life without universes opening up - and leaking, appearently! - futures likely to paradox themselves just because of characters that don't belong there yet, somehow Oliver Queen got a head start on everybody else for a couple of seasons, and "the guy who started FaceBook" turns out to be Lex Luthor (okay, now that makes a little more sense...).
OH - and Ally McBeal is a media magnate, how is Morgan Edge not rolling in his grave over that one...

Meaningful observations. Like having MCU Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch without Magneto... or mutants.

    Vidiot Now in 4K HDR!

None of the movies were shot or finished in 4K, as far as I know. Logan was shot in Arriraw 3.4K, but I'm pretty certain all the VFX were done in 2K. That would mean any 4K release would be an uprez. But the HDR would be real.

Doesn't have to be shot in 4K to come out on 4K media.

They should be originally shot on film to achieve that. Or native 4K/8K by digital means.

Oh well, I updated my personal list.

From best to "worst" (there are no bad movies in this franchise anyway):

    1- X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) - brilliant sci-fi movie
2- X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) - epic superhero movie, the most X-Men-ish so far
    3- X2: X-Men United (2003)
    4- X-Men: First Class (2011)
5- X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) - brilliant superhero movie, very bleak
    6- Logan (2017)
    7- The Wolverine (2013)
    8- X-Men (2000) - a modern classic which paved the way
    9- Deadpool 2 (2018)
    10- X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) - fun and entertaining
    11- Deadpool (2016) - still a great movie

I would have preferred a more serious tone for "Deadpool 2", because Cable's presence mattered a lot.

Anyway, I think it's safe to assume they belong to an alternate Earth.
