I have the first dvd boxsets They have a lot special features I noticed the slim line sets cut a lot of the original special features.. If your a fan buy the original boxsets . Yes, they are thick a s a book But it's worth it.
Season One was the first box set I ever purchased, started me down a very slippery slope that continues to this day. I bought them all and am very glad I own them. Every other issue of these sets contains either less features or has some goofy technical issues (incorrect aspect ratios, bad title fonts, etc.)
I'm pretty sure it was. I remember my friends being impressed with the spiffy fold-out packaging, which I'm positive was the first of its kind.
I remember they were $150 each season at retail. I always waited for when Best Buy would have a sale. I was glad when they were finally released on DVD so I could retire the VHS recordings I made from broadcast. I got all nine seasons for $80 total on Fox's website when they went up for preorder.
We own a later released Blu-ray set plus the movies and the semi-recent 10 ep series. One of my favorite series ever really.
Rest of the world got 4/5 standard cases with multiple discs inside, whole thing in a cardboard sleeve.
Same with me and I still have them in storage. If I watch an episode these days I watch the Blu-Ray version or Disney+.
I'm happy with the Blu-rays and they all look pretty good. I'm not someone who cares that much about tons of extra features, so the slim approach works for me.
I bought the first seven seasons of these X-Files box sets when they were first released back in the early 2000's. My local Circuit City had each season on sale for $100 a piece, so I ended up dropping over $700. It was worth it and I still have them.
I have all the seasons box sets. I always thought The Simpsons were the first to put out a full season box set. Anyway, I still see them for sale at Half Price Books & Records.
I've tried to re-watch the show...and, it's always put me to sleep... Someone should make a tight edit of the main arc of the show... Sure, it would make an 8-hour or so long show, but it might hold my interest a little more...
I've really enjoyed re-watching series 1-5, though I do get the feeling they were kind of busking the main arc of the show at times, which is, perhaps, why it went to hell later on. I've always enjoyed the show, right through the weaker 8-11 series - even they have some good episodes
This is a show I've been meaning to get into. Is there a stream that's okay? Or do I really need the dvds? I know some shows from that period have streams done with no care (Buffy the Vampire Slayer for instance).
It’s been awhile since I’ve watched it, but I think one of the movies is slightly part of the story arc of the series. More informed minds may remember better.
The first film takes place after the fifth season and then season six picks up right after that. The second film takes place after season nine but it's more of a self-contained story and doesn't really affect anything.
Does anyone know which episode featured a young woman, maybe a high schooler, suddenly get a nosebleed? It was probably in season 1 or 2. My recollection of the scene was she was seated at a table, maybe a lunchroom table.
