Who else spent Memorial Day on their yacht listening to Toto?

Interesting. I'd give almost anything to be a yacht person.

That would be Yacht Rock Revue. Their setlist is about 1/2 Yacht, 1/2 Nyacht.

Actually, I spent a few minutes on Memorial Day purchasing the CD-only All In box from Amazon UK for about $48 USD shipped!

We have Mustache Harbor here in Nor Cal, our local yacht rock cover band. They're pretty awesome actually - you have to be because that **** is hard to play! Say what you want to about yacht rock, stoned hippies in macrame vests didn't have the discipline to play those licks.

Oh, they're playing Bimbos at the end of July... Let's see if I can get the gang together for that...

Yacht Rock? Never heard of it. How does this differ from AOR?

Oh my god, the station does play Toto. They play the crap out of Africa, totally yachtastical. Some of that stuff is awesomely bad, love it! Then when I'm about sick of it, it goes away after yachting season is over I would imagine, then around May I can't wait for it to return!

Hasn't this thread already covered that topic?

I don't know. I only saw that huge list on the first page and thought it don't look much different. I should probably have said MOR rather than AOR, or some mix between the two. I don't really want to read the whole thread. Sorry.

    Ouch!

Ok, if no-one wants to answer, that's ok. It's not my scene. Was merely curious.

Yeah it's a seasonal thing. Try channel 70, that's what it is on her satellite radio, think she has XM.

We just got back from a 1.5 hour trip each way and yacht rocked out! Michael McDonald Sweet Freedom into Andrew Gold Lonely Boy, doesn't get any more yachtastic that that. And, what would a trip be without the Pina Colada Song, and some Toto 99 thrown in. The announcer Dude has new sound bites mixed in with some of the old ones, it was pretty funny.

Or get the app, where it's on all year round. (Even though most of the playlist is NYACHT.)

Just got back from another hour long trip with yacht rock (YR) propelling us along. The YR season is official, we had a Ya Mo Be There sighting off the port bow! How is it that if that song were playing on ANY other station I would change the channel in a nanosecond with time to spare, but on the YR station I was singing along.

THATS the magic of yacht rock my friends...

They’re super popular. Cover band with Captain Hat’s and play Yacht Rock. Tons of hot tail attend the shows.

I would probably describe Yacht Rock as a guilty pleasure... The Doobie Brothers' 'Minute By Minute' was on high rotation in my room. I also really loved the Little River Band although would never admit that in high school. LRB's "Lady" was a great song.

Hey, no less a figure than John Lennon loved LRB's "Reminiscing" - it helped inform the sound and mood of Double Fantasy.

(Am I the only one who thought "Reminiscing" was Chicago, not the Little River Band? It sounds nothing like their other hits.)

Sounds nothing like Chicago, either, IMO. More like Pablo Cruise.

The horns on it remind me of Chicago, the Cetera stuff. Cuts like "Just You And Me", "Old Days" and "If You Leave Me Now".
