Maybe Bruford can be the MC.

Yes, perhaps making a cynical comment after every other song about the mess the Yes-men have gotten themselves into. I would go see the show for that alone.

If you don't care about this version of Yes and the subject tour, why come on YET ANOTHER YES THREAD and gripe about it not including Jon Anderson?

We get it. Some people are upset he's not in the band. The fact that Yes is touring isn't going to change that some people aren't happy about that.

But that's not the subject of the thread. Can we give that issue a rest for once?

Well said. I love plenty of Yes material with both Rabin and Howe, but neither does a very good job of playing material the other originally played.

As for the current mess, yes, it is a total mess. I'd consider going to see the ARW-Yes if they came my way, but have no interest in seeing the Steve Howe-Yes again. I saw them 6-7 years ago when they did that summer your with Styx and have no interest in seeing that again.

I think people care because Anderson has as much claim to be Yes as Howe’s band, more maybe. So, that’s why it comes up.

I wish Howe and Anderson would work it out.

I haven't really had any interest at all in Yes since the end of the first 'Rabin years'. I've heard bits and pieces of the various incarnations but nothing (with the noted exception of the two Keys To Ascension albums - which are superb) has rekindled my interest. Therefore, this whole thread has been interesting because I simply wasn't aware of the current situation...

What I don't understand is the RnRhoF... I found the clip of Roundabout online and thought it was superb. - How did that come about if there are all these tensions..?

There are way stronger tensions between supposed "Yes fans" than they are between the band members.
I'm not suggesting those are best friends but in forums like this the frictions within the band are blown out of proportion.

I don't remember reading a bad word by Geoff Downes, Alan White, Billy Sherwood* and Trevor Rabin about any ex-member or member of the "other" current Yes incarnation. (Geoff Downes actually said: "The more Yesses the better").
Steve Howe is somewhat tight-lipped and grumpy when asked about ARW but hey, he's a grumpy guy. He never talked really bad about ARW in public (unless I have missed it). The only two Yes members who can't stop badmouthing other band members are Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman.
Also, I have said this before, in the early days of ARW they were actually mentioned in the news-section of the official Yes website which really surprised me. Of course since they assumed the name "Yes feat. ARW" the official Yes hasn't given them any free promotion anymore but I can't really blame them.

*Edit: I just remembered Sherwood criticized Wakeman's behaviour at the HoF induction. He was very close to Chris Squire and wasn't pleased that Chris' widow did not have time so say some words because Rick wouldn't stop with his toilet jokes.

They put it all aside for the fans (and publicity) for 15 minutes. I'm happy they did, even though the performance was somewhat of a train wreck drum-wise (watch the unedited audience footage). It was a big deal for a lot of fans that they be inducted, and I'm glad they all made the right decision to show up and get along for a day to acknowledge that. But that doesn't mean either party has any desire to put up with the other for months at a time, and I totally get that.

Honestly, Howe is the only member left (Alan is pretty much done at this point), and there's really no need for Howe and Rabin to be in a single-guitar band together if they don't gel as musicians (which they don't, at all). Go see ARW if they come near you, it's a wonderful show, trust me.

I’ve just seen them in Sheffield. I enjoyed it immensely. Never seen any incarnation of Yes before, mind...

Bruford actually introduced Yes in London last night (there's footage on Progressive Ears, not from Youtube). Which means that 2/5 of Yes' founding lineup has at least been represented on this tour.

So, Bruford is closer to Howe than ARW? Interesting. Wonder if he sat through the show and what he thought.

Young Howe could shred, even middle-aged Howe, in his own inimitable fashion, of course.

I saw Yes' 35th Anniversary tour in NYC at MSG. They were great, and things got interesting when Jon sailed past the curfew doing a speech about his guru, and how wonderful the audience was, and what a spiritual experience it was to be singing those songs, etc. etc. Steve was visibly pissed off as they did the encore.

That may have been the last big headlining gig they ever did in a place as big as The Garden. It was well-attended but not sold out. The next gig was Tsongas, which was filmed and released as Songs From Tsongas.

No interest in seeing Yes' 50th. I prefer to remember them with Chris alive and well, Jon up front, and a healthy Alan on drums. I heard Alan wasn't well, or wasn't playing well, and had to be replaced.

The live ARW I've heard sounds pretty good. I'd take a chance on one of their gigs if it wasn't too pricey.

I went to the RnR Hall of Fane show to see Pearl Jam and (*wince*) Journey. I don’t think I had thought about Yes in 30 years. But, from those first notes on acoustic guitar at the beginning of “Roundabout”, Yes stoke the show. Just an astonishing performance. I thought it was a wonderful gesture for the fans.

Schellen is doing most of the playing on the European dates right now but Alan comes on in the second half of the set and takes over from there from what I am reading on the net.
I read that he came on for the Ritual drum solo in the Netherlands a couple days ago.

Dylan Howe was interviewed for Bruford's new book. Apart from that, there's probably not much more to read into that he was asked to do the introduction.

Nice to see they're playing in Cincinnati for once. I unfortunately missed a chance to see them here with Squire a couple of years back and I've been regretting it ever since. I would much rather see ARW over the current Yes, though if the seats are reasonably priced, I'll probably end up going.

Philly dates are tempting, nice venue. Haven't seen any of these guys since 04 and while the lineup or rather interpretation of the existing material without Jon or Chris has strained my enthusiasm in the past the question I ask myself is would I pay to see Howe solo the answer is yes.

You'll get your chance. ARW-Yes has just announced a 100 date tour that starts overseas and then comes over to the US. They are also going to release a live CD-DVD from one of last year's shows, and a new studio album at the end of this year, or beginning of 2019. They've revamped their website, and somehow, they are using the Roger Dean Yes logo with the new logo on top of it. I'm not sure how they managed that, but they did it! The first bit of tour dates are posted, and tickets will be available soon. I was getting nervous that they had given up on recording any studio tracks, but it seems that they have a bunch of pieces recorded, and just need to assemble them in some way. Their tour has a break in September, 2018, and t they'll hit the road again in 2019. I think the studio album will most likely come out in that time, and they'll play some of that material when they resume the tour. I've seen them once, and I'd go again. Lee Pomeroy does those bass parts justice!

Jon co-owns the trademark on the Roger Dean Yes logo. That's also how he gets away with calling his band "Yes featuring ARW."

Yep. He's part of "Yes 97 LLC". That's the organization listed on the new version of Fly From Here (which I finally received the CD of today). It also says the logo is owned by Yes 97 LLC, Steve Howe and Roger Dean. After seeing that, I understand it all a lot better now.

Three shows in Michigan and not a single one in Canada. They could have at the very
least made up the concert here that was cancelled last September.

So I just bought tickets for Anderson Rabin and Wakeman. They are billed as Yes.
Are both bands touring under the Yes name?
