It's a rom-com, British comedy. If you like that genre, it'll be good methinks. If you're going to see just because it has Beatles music, but you don't like UK humor, then, yeah, you're wasting your time.

Yeah I suspect most of us aren't the target audience for this film.

I saw the film tonight at the Chicago Critics Film Festival. In my opinion, the film has a promising start in the first 30 minutes or so as the basic premise is laid out, then really doesn't know what to do with itself from there. When the romcom portion comes to the fore there's not much worth watching, as there's little chemistry between the two leads and no real thrust to the story. That being said, the large crowd in attendance seemed to like the film a lot more than I did. And I'd suggest avoiding trying to apply any sort of logic whatsoever to the film's main premise - it's not designed for anything of that ilk. It's mostly a one note joke told over and over.

There is an actor playing John Lennon. In the alternate Beatles-free universe, he is still alive (and apparently an artist).

The first thing I said was, "jesus, I bet it cost $10 million dollars to license all these songs." And it did.

Danny Boyle Talks Securing the Beatles' Expensive Tunes for 'Yesterday'

The film is getting fairly positive reviews so far. I'm a little nervous about the ending: does the guy stay in his life as "the writer of all the Beatles' songs," or does it end with him hitting his head and waking up back in the regular world that's always had the real Fab Four? Does it surprise us or is it just wacky? How far can you take this idea before it kind of falls apart? Fantasy is a delicate balance. (And thanks to my pal Santi Sparada on the BSN Forum for alerting me to this article.)

He wakes up and it is all a dream. Isn't that the way Hollywood always does it?

The one man's name should be George.

I saw an advance screening of this movie tonight and really enjoyed it!

The Beatles are my favorite band, so I’m predisposed to like movies about them, but I still believe this is a really fun movie for anyone who enjoys the band’s music.

The movie can claim good acting, a lot of excellent humor, and it concludes the story in a way that’s well written, and not an eye-roller (as many have worried.)

Without giving much away, it also had one incredible scene that brought me to tears.

I feel like that’s all I can say without ruining the story, so I’ll leave it there. I recommend it to any Beatle fan - at the very least I think you’ll be happily entertained for two hours.

For those who have seen the film already, is it appropriate for a ten year old kid or is there a lot of adult content?

For fans of the British soap EastEnders, the film stars Himesh Patel who played Tamwar in the show. I've been watching EE since it made
its U.S. northern California debut in January 1988 on San Jose PBS station KTEH. In terms of EE connections, John Altman who played
Nick Cotton in the series, also portrayed George Harrison in the 1979 Birth of the Beatles TV movie.
