Cartridge playing on a Technics 1200GR thru ELAC PPA Phono pre

 

Lovely video. It doesn't look as ugly as I imagined. Is this the $200 cartridge? How would you describe its sound?

 

This is the more expensive one. $799 at some places. Amazon has them for $499. Very smooth sounding and well balanced.

The VTA is level at 1 (technics vta dial). I find, however, the most balanced sound is at 1.25 with the tail up just slightly. I based on an 180 gr LP

 

Great but heard that song too many times, enough is enough, sound off.

Maybe the camera could have come a little closer to headshell ?

Great sounding phono stage. Underrated in my opinion.

 

I agree. Fremer gave it a good review. I originally had a MoFi but had issues. I returned it and got the PPA-2

 

Just an update. After a month of the JT-80 Bk settling in, I must say I really enjoy this cartridge. I did screw one set up thing up that I fixed after a couple of weeks. I thought the height of the Cartridge was 18mm. I saw a drawing and I measured, the height is actually 19mm. So I raised the VTA of my Technics from 1 to 2. I dialed in the best sound for a 180 gr record at 1.25 on the dial. The cartridge still sounds just as good as with the wrong VTA. So I am guessing this cartridge is not that sensitive to VTA settings as much as my previous cartridges. The JT-80bk is one of the best purchases I have made in a long time.
