...around people who could care less? And for good mention, you might even bring up what you find exciting about that particular artist or recording? The blank stares and silence are sometimes priceless, sometimes annoying!

What I'm getting at here is I come to this board for therapy. You good folks are the only ones I personally know who could give a rodent's posterior about great mastering, recording, and performances for such a broad range of musical tastes.

I love you guys! (where's that gently-weeping "tiny tear" face when I need it??)

Yeah, I think it's a sickness that us audiophiles must all endure. Some people basically look at you as if they are thinking... "What a frickin' idiot! Get a life!" To me, music is such a large part of my life, that when I get together with friends, the topic eventually gets around to music. Your GOOD friends will at least tolerate your passions (obsessions?)... I've noticed that our hobby is also contageous too! Once they come over for a visit, and you play something that sounds REALLY good, they notice...

Isn't it hillarious once they start to get an interest especially when you compare the common releases with Steve's and they sit there like someone just belted them with a baseball bat, eyes wide. :D

I've been with a girl almost four years now and she is my soul-mate (pun intended).

I got divorced from a woman that didn't understand why I needed more than 1 CD! As soon as she got home from work, on went the TV and I was relegated to the bedroom with my headphones. Needless to say, it didn't work out and, in retrospect, that was one of the main reasons. Music is just way too important to me.

My current girlfriend LOVES music! We both agree that it has the ability to alter our moods. Luckily, she also has great taste in music. She turned me on to The Zombies, The Skatalites and The Raincoats, to name just a few. Although she wouldn't consider herself an audiophile, she loves that I am and encourages me to enjoy my hobby. Additionally, I usually have to convince her it's time to leave when visiting our record/CD stores.

I'm now convinced that I MUST be with someone that either has similar interests or is willing to put up with my hobbies!

Yes, all the time. Great to have people to share it with at last, but put us all in a room together and we'd probably hate each other because we're all (well, most of us) such opinionated bastards!

That's great! What a Gal, you are a lucky man. My wife, being a professional singer is also a fan of great vocalists! I'm a lucky man too!
