You Know You Have Too Many Records When....

I say to myself, “Self, I have to listen to (insert album title) next time I’m listening”. Then next time I’m listening I say “What the hell Album was that I wanted to listen to again?”

Yup, that’s me and my collection is nowhere near as large as most of the folks on this forum!

 

Or the TMDVA (Too Much Damn Vinyl Anonymous)!

 

...vinyl dictates your every waking moment!

(And probably every unawake moment as well)....

 

...your car is down to three functioning components, but you'll buy a new box set like it's a cup of coffee.

 

...the last time you moved, a ship was involved!

 

...your Elvis collection was on the nightly news!

 

...you have records in room 4 because there was no space in room 3, due to records that were put there that wouldn't fit in rooms 1 and 2.

 

...you think streaming is something that fish do!

 

...you don't "pick up a new record" at the record shop. You pick up a row of records.

 

...you even have multiples of albums that are just "okay".

 

You look through trashed Mantovani records at Goodwill to see if you already have that particular pressing.

 

...you had a dream that you were dreaming about records.

 

...you are surprised as anyone to see half of what you own.

 

...you own records with titles that you can't even pronounce.

 

You need GPS to find your way to the kitchen in your house.

 

...you work your life around the collection! Not vice versa.

 

...you need a second location to store some of them

 

When you are broke...or deaf.

 

...you have found records under the sofa cushions!

 

...one room is devoted entirely to your hype sticker scrapbooks!

 

...there aren't enough pressings of The Doors debut on Earth to satisfy you.
