a) That would never happen. b) I would either have one of three mp3 players, all loaded, or however-many gigs are on my Kindle. And, even on the statistically-impossible notion that I would be on a deserted island with just one album? Are we assuming I would also have the proper equipment to play it on...? And, uhhhh...where's the outlet...?

Add another notch for The Dreaming. (Linda Thompson is a very close second favorite as a singer, but has no solo album I can compare to anything Kate Bush has done.)
Erotica - Madonna Madame X - Madonna The Abbey Road Sessions - Kylie Minogue Lioness - Amy Winehouse Back to Black - Amy Winehouse My Love Is Your Love - Whitney Blackout - Britney Spears Like A Prayer - Madonna I'm Breathless - Madonna Disco - Kylie Minogue My top Albums - I prefer the Vinyl versions of these...................... cannot nail it down to one album only to be honest - but Erotica & Madame X in my top 2 - and for all rounders - Madonna's "Immaculate Collection" & Kylies "Definitive Collection" are the way to go ................ This question is just wayyyyyy too hard !!!
I just spun that tonight for only the second time. The reissue was a recent cold purchase based on the store owners recommendation.
While I haven't kept track, it seems like female artists are approaching parity with male artists for 21st century releases in my collection. It's certainly a lot closer than it was in decades past.
For me to even attempt to consider a single favorite or even 10 would be a ludicrous, futile exercise. The female voice in all genres has for me the potential to be so moving, so impactful, so emotionally stimulating and just plain beautiful or painful; sometimes beautiful in its pain I can't begin to list favorites as doing so would imply lesser examples... and if I did find a way in to attempt a list of favorites I'm certain my pen would run out of ink before I was half way through even the first stage of my list.
That's always the elephant in the room, isn't it? Desert islands come with one palm tree in the middle, and for some reason just ONE music disc for you to play and occupy your days - yet inexplicably also feature some kind of sound system to play it on, and presumably a power source for same.
Not sure it’s my favorite, but Cheri Knight’s “Northeast Kingdom” was awesome. Then, she just disappeared.
Rickie Lee Jones' Pirates. The "So long Lonely Avenue" part of the title track still gives me goosebumps.
If I had to pick only one it would be: Fiona Apple - When the Pawn... Otherwise I'd include albums from Rickie Lee Jones, Linda Ronstadt, Aretha Franklin, and Tracy Chapman.
