A pretty thin year. It reminds me that the music-album world had not yet really started or was at the best on the verge of a huge transition.

    Eric Dolphy was dead.
Ornette Coleman’s classic period was already long over.
Bob Dylan had just made his best album (see below)
The Beatles managed to release what was really a rehearsal for their best album the following year. Rubber Soul - great on playing and arrangements but weak on songs.
The Byrds - not really an albums band - were still building up to their best album.
The Velvet Underground had formed but had yet to make a record.

That leaves my list looking like this:

Bob Dylan Bringing It All Back Home
    Terry Riley Reed Streams

These are the ones I have:

    Beatles: Help!
    Beatles: Rubber Soul
Dylan: Bringing It All Back Home
    Dylan: Highway 61 Revisited
B.B. King: Live at the Regal
    Coltrane: A Love Supreme

I own comps for most '60s artists. Oh, and for what it’s worth, when I was a kid my parents played Whipped Cream & Other Delights all the time. And I looked at the cover a lot.

(Rubber Soul is weak on songs?)
