Great list. Cowsills, Beau Brummels, Honeybus, Idle Race etc the ones I'm not familiar with I'll check out :)

That is one wild album that will be hailed as genius one day. I played all of Side 1 on my radio show.

Yeah, I love it as well. I just have the iTunes download...better than nothing. Wish some company out there would do a vinyl reissue.

Agree! Looks like Immediate/Castle did do a 1000 run double LP reissue in 2007. wonder what that sounds like.

Cheers, glad you are enjoying :)
The vinyl lp has been a much sought
collectors item; the Saga label STFID 2123
had one print run in '68 and was never
officially reissued until the year 2000
when it first reappeared on CD on
    Angel Air Records. Depending on
condition of the record, prices these days
range from around $30.00 for G (Good)
condition to upwards of around $300.00
for one in NM or M- (Near Mint)
    condition. Thankfully, the Morgan Blue
    Town
label reissued the album on CD in
2018, an excellent needledrop, I believe.
I still see copies of it at several local
    record stores.

    The upc is 5036436112326.
No doubt these will go out of print before long,
and the CDs will become minor collector's
    items themselves

The five albums in order of loveability which would come up for me each and every time for 1968:

    White Album
Child is Father To the Man
    Oddesey and Oracle
    Bookends
    Beggars Banquet...

...bubbling just below these are In Search Of The Lost Chord and Wheels Of Fire. I'd have given some sort of mention to In-A-Gadda_Da-Vidda had side one of the album not been so unlistenable for me.

Re Crown of Creation, by the way, the bonus track version has this cool bit of "Jefferson Airplane putting on their Zappa hats" (actually in collaboration with Zappa)--"Would You Like a Snack"

"The Saga of Sydney Spacepig" bonus track also clearly seems to be a collaboration with Zappa, although it doesn't appear to be credited that way for some reason:
