And I like stuff from McCartney beyond Ram and McCartney II (the “hip” choices for his albums)

U2 - been a diehard for 30 years but they have fallen out of favour now.
Boney M - fave group as a kid. Ok, I still like the big hits, sue me!
Post-Lou VU - ok, so I have the 1971-1973 box set and I like what’s on there. So, not the VU really but a damn good tribute band instead!

The list would be shorter if I told you who I listened to who IS "hip"!

Besides, doesn't "hipness" eventually become "unhip" by it's own definition?

And aren't some artists so "unhip" that it actually becomes "hip" to like them?

    I have a similar feeling myself, and I’m 38.

Yet I get the feeling that if I was only a few years younger I would be referred to as a ‘hipster’.

So what is the age bracket for hipsters?

Probably the solo work of Paul and Ringo for sure.

    Lennon, probably at 50% hip.

    And George at 100% hip.

Au contraire! I in no way question the genius of Brian Wilson. *genuflects.*

I'm thinking a tracking session on disc 5 of the GV box where Brian references a comedy album from the 1950's called "How to Speak Hip." To paraphrase Louis Armstrong, if you gotta ask, you'll never know. Brianv s so un-hip, he's totally hip, if you follow my logic.
