With a majority of these, I actually prefer them to the A-Sides BEATLES Ask Me Why I'll Get You (this is sometimes listed as a "non-favorite Beatles song... why that is, I'll never know) This Boy (one of the Fabs' All-Time Great songs -- their performance of this on Sullivan was fantastic) There's a Place You Can't Do That Things We Said Today I Should Have Known Better I'm Happy Just to Dance with You If I Fell (one of the Fabs' All-Time Great songs) Slow Down Yes it Is Day Tripper Rain Revolution I Am the Walrus Old Brown Shoe Don't Let Me Down DOORS The Crystal Ship (perfection!) The Verve: The Crab (b-side to 'The drugs don't work') Even more depressing than the A-side, but beautifully sad.
Beatles , Stones and Kinks have loads of great B-sides - Rain, Child Of The Moon, Big Black Smoke to name just one each. Johnny Kidd and The Pirates have a few - Feeling' / I Want That / I Can Tell / Then I've Got. Everything / Dr Feelgood / Shop Around /
There are so many, great B sides too many to list. One that springs to mind is a Steve Harley B side "Sebastian", can't recall the A side. It was on the juke box in my local, it's a slow dirge like thing about six minutes in length very quiet in parts. People groaned when I'd put it on, but I loved it..
Arthur Alexander - A Shot of Rhythm and Blues; Soldier of Love Irma Thomas - Hittin' on Nothing; Time is on my Side The Miracles - Who's Lovin' You; I've Been Good to You Aretha Franklin - Do Right Woman, Do Right Man; Dr. Feelgood The Lovin' Spoonful - Didn't want to have to do it The Beach Boys - In My Room; Don't Worry Baby; The Warmth of the Sun; Girl Don't Tell Me .... Just a few that come to mind
Not including songs taken from albums: Daytime Nighttime Suffering - Wings Christmas Is the Time to Say I Love You - Billy Squier Be True - Bruce Springsteen Jersey Girl - Bruce Springsteen Shut Out the Light - Bruce Springsteen Roulette - Bruce Springsteen Silver Springs - Fleetwood Mac The Lion Sleeps Tonight - R.E.M. Love Is All Around - R.E.M. Hey, Hey, What Can I Do - Led Zeppelin Erotic City - Prince Into the Groove - Madonna (B-side of 12-inch single) Whenever You're Ready (We'll Go Steady Again) - Elton John
The Beatles: Rain, I Am the Walrus The Who: Heaven and Hell My favorite obscure B-side is "Somebody Tell Me My Name", the flip side of "I Love You" by People.
Ha!Ha! I used to do exactly the same thing. May have been the b-side of Judy Teen and might have been live too.
