A few I'm quite fond of:
Bach Fantasia & Fuge - Angela Hewitt
Bach Cantatas Vol.35 - Suzuki/Collegium Japan (I only this one but want a few more)
    Janos Starker plays Kodaly
Haydn Piano Trios - Beaux Arts Trio
Elgar Cello Concerto - Du Pre/Barbirolli (OOP Japanese issue from 2011)
Mozart Keyboard & Violin Sonatas Vol.2 - Cooper/Podger (I really hope Podger's Bach Violin Sonatas make it to SACD)
Bartok Concerto for Orch/Music for Strings - Reiner/Chicago

The Pentatone (Dutch) label has reissued a bunch of SACD 4 track quad recordings from the 70's Phillps label. All originally recorded & mixed in quad, but the format never caught on.
I have a late Bernstein Carmen I like.

  4. As fine as Sony's Living Stereo SACDs are, the AP versions sound better with more transparent DSD.

The entire Mercury Living Presence SACD line was great.

About the half of Sony’s Living Stereo SACDs are not worth the money. From a historic perspective... they are highly recommended, but soundwise I can’t recommend all.

The original LP’s or AP reissues are better IMO.

This Mofi SACD sounds really good..... much better as Mofi's first classical 24K Gold CD.

    Poor performances, poor sound.

Recorded by Tony Faulkner in 24bit. The SACD reveals the full resolution.

I find Esa-Pekka Salonen'’s Sacre du Printemps on DG particularly explosive.

I'm trying to figure out why I find this thread so confusing.

I think the issue is probably that there are only a few small dozen classical titles (if that) for which I have multiple recordings. Which is to say that, for me, the interest is not so much in comparing between different performances and masterings; for me, my classical investigations are much more for the single recommendable (or top 2) performance of a particular composition I'm interested in. So I don't see the value-for-the-money (for me!) in finding a good SACD recording of a performance that is broadly considered not one of the top 2. My limitation, I'm sure! Limitation of budget and time and limitation of interest and connoisseurship.

The case is fairly different for me for jazz and pop/rock, where I'll go to some effort and expense to find outstanding SACD masterings.

Anyway, just my experience, it goes without saying.
