  2. This is from a TV show, Jonny Quest, episode titled the Invisible Monster.
Because it was invisible, until painted, it was scary and menacing. Because it only consumes to survive it was scary and menacing. Because you CAN hear it coming by the thudding, burning ground footsteps and weird howl it was scary and menacing. A really great monster, in my opinion, for a kids sci-fi cartoon...right on the edge of too much for the age of the intended viewer.

They surely got the idea for this from watching the 1959, low-budget film, Invisible Invaders. John Agar rules! ;)

I'm pretty sure H.R Geiger actually connected with xenomorphs during one of his LSD trips in another galaxy and brought the visuals of them here for our viewing pleasure. Hands down best alien ever.

One of the best Sci-Fi movies ever `Attack The Block`, a budget release that proved to be a big cult smash, that is now used in film studies courses, about a gang of kids in a run down tower block estate in London, who meet some pretty unfriendly aliens........although the aliens are just vague black shapes with large teeth they are remarkably effective. If you have never seen this film I would strongly recommend it.
Please note this video has bad language.....

I love those old Jonny Quest cartoons, and this episode is still creepy as hell. BUT--technically speaking--the invisible monster was not an alien. It was an accidental human creation from planet Earth. Home grown, as it were. Hence, not an alien. But kudos for bringing up this classic cartoon. :righton:

In fact, I think a good live action movie could be made based on this episode and several others from that series.

Lot of greats already mentioned...here's one not mentioned so far that I liked: the understated tortoise aliens from The Lathe of Heaven. I loved how their faceless heads lit up when they spoke.

  10. I completely understand your point of view, however, one portion of the definition to the word "alien" reads like this. (Merriam Websters definition by the way)
"differing in nature or character typically to the point of incompatibility"
The Invisible Monster certainly fits that description and that is why I included it in this thread.

I like the fact that the alien is only on screen for a matter of seconds; I love the way it's lit; and I love the brief 'human smile' at the end of its appearance. :)

  16. How would you rate this movie based on giving it an age rating?
What things happen to put your mind in this position?
I like finding fun, good movies for my teen age kid.
Thanks and have a great night.

Has a bit of swearing. but nothing like the soundtrack in the sample.
Violence= more comical than bloodthirsty, but might scare a younger child.
If you kid is over 14, he will love it.

Original Alien was the best. I just saw the new Alien Covenant movie and it was terrible - too much alien (I was expecting the mel brooks top hat dance.) It is what you get when a directory has no limits based on technology.
