She’s hands down my favorite piano/keyboard player. Always bristling with energy and taking you somewhere unexpected with her playing.

In a year of fantastic musical discoveries, this is contender for most original, authentic, and aesthetically stimulating artist to my virgin ears.

Amazing thread - this geographically tiny archipelago churning out a remarkable array of talent per capita while manifesting such a diverse spectrum of historical musical influences. Arguably SHF at its finestt: new horizons rather than a recycled past.

I still pull out of my collection and play on occasion the CD's of Teru's Symphonia. Egg The Universe is my favourite!

I also like Shonen Knife and the 5.6.7.8's.

I don't know any other groups, but will listen to some on this thread......any garage/punk based groups.

My absolute favourite Shiina Ringo song. Has a real White Album feel to it. A great song and video and a great arrangement and recording. Absolutely world class.

I enjoy many of the artists mentioned, but for me, it’s Babymetal until they do something to lose the crown.

It's a shame Baby Metal get all the glory when there's bands far superior out there...guess that's the way it's always been though....

Shiina Apple (literally transrated as Ringo) rocks! Nobody doubts that she is vastly talented.

Great, Now This Thread is now going to cost me More Time & Money(unless I can stream some of these Music Artists from Japan). When did Japan pick the FUNK Ball and keep it moving? Saw on here that Bernie Worrell(RIP) played his Keyboards with one of these Bands(Melon). Anything Bernie was involved with turned out to be Great Music. This Thread is another reason why the SHF is such a Great Place to hang out on parts of my day/night.

    Meiko Kaji sings 'Tokyo Wanderer'
The song is featured in the famous film of the same name directed by Seijun Suzuki. (She is not in the film, though.)
This is one of her greatest singing.

Searched the thread for Cibo Matto. No results. What gives? Expats?
