Can be a single track, a 78 with multiple tracks, early albums (as in literal albums of 78s bound together), a classical piece, a later compilation focusing on the year . . . whatever.

Doesn't have to be a list, though of course you can post a list if you want. You can also just post one title at a time as you think of it/run across it (which is what I do in these threads).

    Gabriel Fauré - L'Horizon chimérique, Op. 118

This was a quite late piece for Fauré--he was born in 1845 and died in 1924. The year of composition was actually 1921, but unless there's an unusual gap, I consider the year of publication and/or first performance to be the year of the piece, and that was 1922 in this case. (I see it as analogous to the composition and recording of an album versus the album's release date.)

This is actually the recording I have:

'Sallie Gooden' - A.C. "Eck" Robertson (Alexander Campbell Robertson)

recorded 1st July, 1922. Tony Russell's book "Country Music Originals" notes that Victor "dawdled" until April, 1923 before issuing the 78 and this release date also appears on discogs and second hand songs. However the Victor catalogue number 18956 indicates a December, 1922 release (by the following April releases were in the 19013/19036 range)
