Can be a single track, a 78 with multiple tracks, early albums (as in literal albums of 78s bound together), a classical piece, a later compilation focusing on the year . . . whatever. Doesn't have to be a list, though of course you can post a list if you want. You can also just post one title at a time as you think of it/run across it (which is what I do in these threads).
In classical music there were at least 15 masterpieces composed, but let me post a relatively short one by Arthur Honegger called Pacific 231, which is inspired by trains

One piece completed in '23 that I think doesn't get a lot of attention but I think is really interesting and fun is Schoenberg's Serenade. The piano suite from the same time frame (that one was given its debut performance in '24), is probably "better" and really, I think a masterwork and one of the most fascinating of Schoenberg's from this period as he moves from free atonality to trying to figure out a system for structuring atonal compositions now that harmony as structure is out the window. But Serenade is a wild, unique favorite of mine. It's instrumentation -- chamber size with the bass clarinet and clarinet and banjo-like guitar and mandolin -- almost has a jazz or cabaret feel; like the piano suite it lays into kind of dance and march rhythms, but more contemporaneous stylistically than the baroque dance rhythms of the piano suite. One of the not as well known pieces of 1923 that I think really merits greater attention. People think of Schoenberg's music as somehow intense and thorny, but those aren't the only qualities of Schoenberg's music by a long shot.
