Can be a single track, a 78 with multiple tracks, early albums (as in literal albums of 78s bound together), a classical piece, a later compilation focusing on the year . . . whatever.

Doesn't have to be a list, though of course you can post a list if you want. You can also just post one title at a time as you think of it/run across it (which is what I do in these threads).

Lewis James - "The Pal That I Loved Stole the Gal That I Loved" / "The Ten Commandments of Love" [Victor 19473]

James had an unusual number of "Pal" songs.

The Brox Sisters - Red Hot Mama

First heard it on a compilation called "Flappers, Vamps And Sweet Young Things" which has a lot of other great songs that sound similar.

Gabriel Fauré's String Quartet in E Minor, Op. 121 was his very last composition. Completed in 1924, he died shortly after, leaving behind a glorious final piece of music:

On the other hand, Aaron Copland was just getting into his stride with his first fully realized work for orchestra. Here is his Symphony for Organ and Orchestra:

Jean Sibelius completed his final, 7th, Symphony in 1924, notable for having only one movement. Check out the great video:

Another 1924 masterpiece is Ottorino Respighi's "I Pini di Roma" (Pines of Rome), a trilogy of tone poems inspired by three different pines in Rome at different times of the day:

  13. One cannot talk about 1924 without discussing Bessie Smith and her easy come and easy go blues.

"Blue Ridge Blues" by George Reneau, later covered by dozens of bluegrass and country artists.

The artist is of particular interest to me, as I've got Reneau ancestors, making George my 6th cousin or something.
