Great song! Rays second follow up to this was "I've Got My Mind Set On You" also written by Rudy Clark. Later, of course, George Harrison's cover of it became a number 1.
Cover versions of Rudy's "Good Lovin'" and "It's In His Kiss" would also become Number Ones!
Sadly James, who was reportedly rescued from homelessness when Clark discovered him, died of a drug overdose around 1963 at a very young age (around 22).

There's something about Ben's "Spanish Harlem" that really gets to me. I can't put a finger on it > I've no personal connection to the song nor to Spanish Harlem. Anyway, from first listen way back when it was released it has stayed me all these decades later. Beautiful song in every regard.

Del Shannons' Runaway of course; Roy Orbisons' Crying but in addition let me call your attention to Bobby Lewis' Tossin' and Turnin' which I was reminded of as I was just listening to Steve Goodmans' version. As far as albums 2 standouts for me were: Bobby Bland's Two Steps from the Blues and Bill Evans' Waltz for Debbie.

But there was also... Jimmy Reeds' Big Boss Man and Boom Boom by John Lee Hooker. Boom!

I think I've got my timeline right.

That's it; I think I play some records now.
